I was just thinking...I would like a way to carry our bikes with us on our camping trips. Would it be advisable to put a spare tire bike carrier on the TT spare tire? I'm thinking no, but figured I'd get some input. The spare tire mount would have to support another 50+ pounds of bikes.

Nay. Go up and grab the spare at each side and wiggle it. That will answer the question in a hurry.

As mentioned above this topic has been covered NUMEROUS times and overwhelmingly it has been decided this is a bad idea. There was even a guy a couple weeks ago that owned up to this mistake. Thought he had it all worked out and then something happened to his bumper on a trip. Not good.
One poster on here recommended buying one of those front wheel bike racks that you buy at Target or something. They just sit on the floor and allow you to place the front or back tire of two bikes in them. That and a few bungy cords and you can keep them in the trailer while traveling. That is what I did and it worked great.
A stand like this is what I used.

I find it does work if you weld a good receiver type hitch on the trailer along with a GOOD bike rack.

I wouldn't put anything heavier than a few light lawn chairs on the spare tire. IMO it's got a full load just carrying the tire. Have you picked up a spare and rim lately? It's heavy.

I would not hang something from the bumper. I did build a rec. hitch for my trailer and purchased a good bike rack. Have been very happy with it. Here is a couple of pics.
