Tell the wife that she should be happy that you bought yourself a TC & not a BOAT. Now there is a toy that takes some justifying especially if it is too big to sit on a trailer.
Boat: 32' 1996 Albin 32+2, single Cummins 315hp
40+ night per year overnighter
can I justify my camper--absolutely. cost doesn't matter, it is my vacation preference and I love it! adds wonders to my life.
so the problem is WHAT? wife doesn't like TC. no big deal, she doesn't have to go with you. Want a bigger camper? If you have the money buy one for every day of the week. Maybe she will pick one LOL
but if she is not into camping, you might have to have this type of interest alone. not everyone loves camping. go figure? ugh

Wow, maybe the real issue is not 'justifying your RV expense', but more about sharing with your DW.
Nothing to share. We have different interests. I need a 4 x 4 TC, she don't. She is welcome in it. If not, OK too. We kind of do our own things. We overlap on lots of stuff, other times not.
I can relate! My wife hates the RV lifestyle - I'm not a fulltimer. So my dog and I travel in the MH. She's always invited, but it's a rare event that she comes along. Oh well!

My friend always wanted to buy a MH and take off fulltiming. He found one excuse after another - kids, grandkids, liked his S&B house, etc. He was diganosed with terminal lung cancer and 3 days before he died, told me his only regret was that he did not get the MH and do what he really wanted to do.

1000x this.
My RV is paid for. I use it a lot more than a lot of people do (average RVers). It keeps me sane, is my only hobby, and I hope to die with no regrets.
Yes, there are things that we do justify economically, but then there are other things we enjoy doing, that we can easily afford to do, we want to do them, so we just do it, don't worry or even consider the expenses. Our trailer was one of those, along with the 60+ days of trips we did this last year and probably 75 days this year we have planned this year now that DW finally retired. (BTW, buying the trailer is what finally got her to decide to retire, we were having to much fun traveling). DW doesn't ask how much my off road motorcycling costs (Good thing because I don't know either, but it is expensive on a $/mile basis), I don't ask her how much her new sewing machine or sewing gadget costs. and the list goes on, justify the important stuff, don't sweat the other stuff as long as you can afford it.

I am 38 years old and my mom passed away almost 3 years ago. she always talked of traveling and seeing the country, but never got the chance. she worked until she was 70 years old. she was in poor health and never got the chance to live her dreams. My dad is now 73yo and talks about taking a trip to go visit his sister in florida, but still has not gone. I have told him numerous times he can use my truck and trailer and take off, go for a month or two. go visit your sister, and enjoy life!!!!!
For all of you that are retired, or getting up there in life, do what YOU as a couple want to do. don't worry about anything. if you have the money, and are healthy enough..... GO!!!!!!! travel see the world if you want. I plan to become a full timer when I retire. my wife and I talk about it all the time. I don't want to end up like my mom, sitting in the chair every day after work watching the travel channel wishing i could go to the places on tv, I want to be the ones in the background on those shows!!!!! lol i could go on and on, just live the dream, you can't take any of this with you
I am in construction and new house excavating line of work and I don't have to explain why the work as dropped off so much in last 4 years. I have the time now to use the fifth wheel and wife and I love it. I may not have the extra money but I have the time to go and we do. My fiver and truck are paid for and we don't have a problem in taking many small trips and at least one nice trip a year. We still both work but not 7 days a week any more. I still do all my own repairs so that expense is not high.

Nope. Mobile support vehicle for horse shows. Easily pays for itself in hotel cost savings. DW and I hate hotels so it goes with us on other trips longer than 1 night as well. Always maintained ready to go. I can leave for a last minute weekend trip in 30 minutes flat (takes 20 minutes to get out of storage)
