Certain Malibus are not towable. I believe it is the sport model are not towable. We have a 2006 Malibu Maxx LT and tow it 4 down without a problem. There are other Chevy models that you can also tow.

The key is in the owner's manual, where they say it's okay to tow the vehicle and what is required prior to towing.

Brilliant observation.

Sure was, I have a solid grasp of the obvious...but not everybody does!

Obvious? Well then, answer the question, tell us why some automatics are towable and some are not. Hint, you won't find it in the Owners Manual. lol

The answer is, and all I need to know is, IF it's towable four down...that does answer the question. Why some are and some aren't is totally irrelevant.

Actually, the answer is quite simple: Lubrication.

And, there are many cars that are towable that are not listed as such in the manual or any place else! I built the base plates for my '85 Toyota MR2 and my '86 Porsche targa. They have both been towed thousands of miles without problem. Neither are automatic however.

We all know that the manual says if it's towable - DUH! I think the OP and the rest of us want to know what the manual's answer is based on.
