Yesterday after I pulled into this campsite, with a nice clear view of the southern sky, I turned on the Dish 612 Receiver and plugged in the Weingard Carryout GM-1518 and very quickly had good reception from all three satellites 110, 119 and 129. No fuss, no bother. Watched TV for awhile with no glitches.

This morning I turn the TV on and two of the satellites have jerky reception. The pictures and sounds stop & start every few seconds in a stuttering fashion. Anyone know what causes this ? The sky was clear - no clouds - no obstructions. It has happened before. Sometimes it clears up after I run Check Switch and Reset the receiver. Today it hasn't. Drives me crazy. Help!

My dish isn't covered like yours but I've had that when there was heavy dew on the dish. I supposed moisture on the cover could do the same thing?

Larry - Wish it were that simple but a hot sun has been baking the dome for hours and the jittering continues.

Try relocating the GM-1518 just a few feet in any direction to reacquire the satellites.

Call Weingard, maybe they have some suggestions. Do you have a "skew" setting on the antenna. I have been thinking of buying one.
Thanks

No skew setting like the dish-on-a-tripod with mechanical settings for Az,El & Skew. The Carryout only requires to be set down on a reasonably level spot with a clear view of the southern sky. It scans automatically to pick up satellites. Mine is mounted at the top of the ladder on a bracket that Winegard will sell you as an accessory.

I tried something that worked. Whether it will work another time I have no idea. Unplugged both the receiver and the Carryout.Plugged the receiver back in and let it do its power up procedure. Turned it on. Then plugged in the Carryout. Went to Menu 6-1-1, selected Sat 119 and let it dwell for a time, then ran Check Switch. That gave the right result so backed out of menu and let the receiver do its thing. It downloaded the Program Guide and then everything worked on all three sats with no picture jitter! A miracle. I just hope for more such miracles in the future.

I've had mine shift just a bit overnight. Seems the moist ground just from overnight dew can cause the little rubber feet to sink into the ground moving it just enough to cause reception problems. Since yours is mounted on the ladder, your RV could have moved slightly.... it doesn't take much to make a big difference.
