We’ll be spending a few days in the Bemidji and Brainerd areas of Minnesota and would like some recommendations for great supper clubs. For those not familiar with the supper clubs of the Upper Midwest, they have dining tables with a view of the lake or windows overlooking a backyard of birch trees, birdfeeders and swaying pines. The bar area will have Knotty pine, stuffed animal heads and photos of fishermen with trophy size muskies. And, of course, there will be a fish fry on Friday night and Prime Rib on Saturday night. I hope the locals will share their favorite place!

Really fine dining can be found at Grandview Lodge (Clicky) on Gull Lake. This is the kind of experience to talk about!

http://www.burntside.com/dining/ Take your big checkbook as your little one will do you no good. It is a fine place with all of the things that you requested and more.

It's a bit south of Bemidji and Brainerd but the Fischer's Resort in Avon, MN is exactly what you are talking about. You bring your own booze and they provide the setups. You eat on paper placemats and it's right on the lake. It's right on the Lake Wobegon trail and is partially owned by Garrison Keillor.
