So having to lug around and maintain 2 gennies just to run your AC is ok? Not for me. Cost is only one part of the decision.

All of you need to re-read radio1960's post. Our "red" generator runs our Polar Cub 9200 without any problems. Not being able to do that with a single Champion is a deal-breaker for me. No thanks to that kind of "how good it works". You get what you pay for.

Just out of curiosity Warren, but what altitude do you normally run yer A/C at most commonly? I know you spend time up around Mt. Hood, but beyond that I'm unfamiliar with yer regular stomping grounds.

Reason I ask is I'm wondering if Radio is having trouble getting the champy's to run it based on altitude of use, it may be jetted wrong for the area's he's using it in.

I have heard it helps to just turn on the fan first then kick it over to cool.

That's a valid point and I don't know in his case. I've only run ours a few times and none were above 1000'. While I haven't tried ours at higher elevations I've read of at least two others who have run theirs at 7k+ so I know it can do it. Neither of them mentioned rejetting. I'll have to remember to try it next time I have the camper at a higher elevation.

Don't get me wrong. A pair of Champions provides a nice amount of power for the price and I'd go that route before buying a 3000w single if I needed more power.

I carry a big gennie.....3500/4000, but then my S&S has a big AC unit and a 2000 wouldnt run it anyhow.

A part of the polar cub conversion with the honda 2000 was the installition of hard start capicator in the polar cub. This might be needed for the champion also.

The issues in Florida on really hot days its harder to start the A/C due to higher compressor pressure and less performance from your genny. A hard start capacitor will help in those conditions.

I think if I were to put a hard start capacitor on the AC 1 Champion would run it. My cost to run both generators is 0.96 cents per hour based on using non ethynol gas at $3.50/gallon. Like I said with both generators I can run my AC and other appliances. Wt of genny with gas is around 45 lbs. When using 1 genny DW can't use blow dryer and microwave or coffee pot at same time. Room
is also not a problem, gennys were designed to stack. My camping so far is all under 1000'.

Not sure what issues a Honda 2000 would have with running a polar cub A/C. I ran mine last year boondocking at about 3700 ft. elevation and this year at 3200 ft. elevation with no problems. I never turn off my fridge or converter, it starts it up every time without issue. The combination seems to work very well as is right out of the box, no hard start capacitor needed.

After doing some research I made sure I had the right combo and am glad I did.
