I actually wasn't planning on carpet either. We had a left over piece when we had new carpet installed in a room in the house and I thought I'd try it there. I really like it by the couch like that. Makes it comfy when sitting on there with no shoes :-)

We've used it a few more times this spring and really like it. It's our first camper. After a few more trips we've gotten a little smarter.

1) We added two 3M hook above the toilet to hold towels. We also added one by the sink to hold a broom. Also added an over the door show organizer to hold things like shampoo, soap, q tips toilet paper and other like items. There's also a tension rod to hang some wet clothes which of course is not in the proper position in the picture. lol

2) Another 3M hook by the kitchen sink for pot holder. White shelving in the cabinet to keep things organized. Before everything was just stacked on top of each other. It's a LOT better now.

Cabinets over the table. We used to use the cabinets over the table and over the sofa for food and games. I noticed that we really didn't fill the cabinets up and that we had our clothes in duffel bags. I moved all the games/food over the sofa and now use the cabinets over the table for clothes. Wire shelves again!

There's lots of kids running around so we put outlet covers on everything.

I also bought a dehumidifier that doesnt' require power. It really works and I'll get at least a cup of water each week, even while we are not using the camper.

The best addition yet, a power tongue jack. If you don't have one, you need one. Seriously. Get one.

While camping in the fall and spring we get some condensation in the bunks while sleeping. We installed some pop up gizmos and voila! Absolutely NO CONDENSATION. I also put a Wingman on the TV antennae it it picks up a lot more channels.

And just some pictures from this past weekend.

We love the camper but we are looking to upgrade to a larger one since there are a lot of kids in the family. We wanted something we could pull with our current vehicles and didn't break the bank. Since everyone seems to really enjoy camping we would be upgrading the camper and the tow vehicle.

Oh, I forgot one thing. I really wanted to have outdoor speakers on the side of the camper but alas, this only has the indoor speakers. I wanted to be able to listen to the same music inside and outside the camper and the only feasible way to do this was to listen to the same radio station on the camper radio and on a portable radio outside. Who wants to listen to radio? lol

I bought an FM transmitter from amazon that works great. It cost about $50 but it broadcasts about 50' which is perfect for camping. I simply plug my ipod into the transmitter and then turn the camper radio and the portable radio to the same radio station being broadcast by the transmitter. There's no static and it's clear.

We just put a down payment on a 2012 today! I am so excited!

We have been tent campers for years and decided that we were ready for a little bit cushier camping scenario. I have been researching for months, and made a really good deal on the one we are getting this AM.

I can't wait to get it and take it out!

Realistically, how long can two of us dry camp in this unit comfortably? TIA!

too many variables to answer:
will you be using the furnace all night, do you use a lot of water, do you have a tote tank, do you have one propane tank or two, will you have two batteries or only one, holding tanks sizes, etc....

i can tell you about our hybrid. we have two 20lb. tanks, a 15-gallon Barker tote tank, a 6-gallon water jug, a Honda 2000 and two 12v deep cycle batteries. and with our 30-gallon gray and black tanks, we can go a long time if we want to.
our 2 propane tanks last us an entire camping season, if we don't need the furnace a lot. the furnace is the biggest battery and propane hog.
we can go 4-5 days before we need to recharge the batteries.

but for new owners that are dry camping, without a generator, your single battery will be your limiting factor.
2-3 days if you don't use the furnace. 24 hours if you do.
