So I'm sitting here getting ready to line the dog house with some additional heat guard and for the life of me I cant get the darn cover to release!! it's clear everywhere except for back edge, it wont budge. I looked underneath the coach and there does look to be some type of latch there but it cant be reached by human arms anyway, what am I miising here?

When we had a Adventurer. There is an Allen screw holding the fron edge of the cover. (you may call it the back edge) It is hard to find in the carpet. You should have an Allen wrench in your owner packet.
This was also on a WH chassis.

Feel around the back edge of the doghouse. Near the center about 1/2" above the floor you should find a small hole. There should have been a hex wrench that came with the MH, it's either 5/16" 0r 3/8" IIRC., it is used to release the rear catch. My MH also had two screws in the front edge of the dog house about half way down from the top.
Hope this helps

My 03 Adventurer has the hole in what I call the front of the cover ...there is an allen wrench in the console...you have to feel for the hole, in that the carpet covers it...what I call the front is the side facing the back of the rv(does that make sense)..after turning the holder, you must pull the cover toward you, in that there are clips on the end of the cover...I had a problem locating it the first time I tried to remove it...but the hole is there....

It may take a very large one. Like 3/8 inch wide or so.

I just went out and checked mine, it takes a 5/16" allen wrench. The short side of the wrench is approx 2 1/2" and the long side is approx 4", it is not a standard size allen wrench. A standard size could be used if you put the long side in the hole then used pliers on the short side to get leverage.

Well I just couldn't get it so I called a Winnebago parts place and they told me there is a special tool for it, so for $10.00 I ordered it, should have it early next week. Hopefully it will do the trick. Thanks to everyone for all the input, as always I really appreciate it.

The $10 tool will be an $1.50 allen wrench. Mine (same MH as yours) was left in the console on top of the dog house by the previous owner.
