Heading south to FL soon. How bad is the road construction around Atlanta? Would it be best to use by-pass or go straight thru?

We drove around Atlanta a week and a half ago. Took the bypass as it was Saturday and there was something going on downtown. Traffic was moderate, no construction, road was good. One of our better trips around Atlanta.

if you are going I-75 there is a lot of work going on below Macon for several miles in south and north lanes.
