Depends were you plan on riding it. We live near Chicago and wouldn't ride one with in many miles. In fact four on my friends just got hurt riding bikes and I'm 67
We had a Genuine Blur SS220i scooter and it carried both of us quite easily and it is NOT a Chinese scooter. Well, if you want to be technical it is since it made in Taiwan and they are Chinese, but there is world of difference in quality compared to the junk from mainland China.

I feel that bright colors are indeed important. I also feel that a bright helmet or jacket is more noticeable than the scooter itself, especially when viewed from the rear (the colored portions of a scooter or motorcycle are more readily apparant when viewed from the side). Brightly colored helmets and jackets are also helpful if for some reason you unexpectedly get separated from the scooter, and are lying in the street. Brightly colored helmets can sometimes be seen over other vehicles, depending of course on how tall you are......
When we're riding in heavy traffic, darkness or cloud, we wear orange reflective vests. We also wear helmets, even when we're in states that don't require them.
Bluegypsy (that's the RV's name)
Map shows where we've lived and worked, travelling through doesn't count....
