I have the Prompt RV Screens also, speaking of seeing out I wonder if putting a small lamp on the dash in the middle would this prevent anyone from seeing in at night, has anyone tried this. Roy

We Prompt screens for the outside and MCD for the inside.. Both work very well, but I would look at the magnet screens the next time for outside.. Inside screens aren't near as effective as the out side for keeping heat out.. We have used both when it was really hot like this summers 100+ degrees.. Mike M..

When we had our A (one piece windshield) we would spend a lot of time in the Nevada sun.
What worked best for us was an outdoor shade (pick your brand) and then the silver-bubble material from a box store (used for insulation) on the inside.
The combination will make a world of difference in keeping the heat down.
FYI -- the prompt style is very easy to put up/take down by one person from the ground.

Also have a Prompt and have been very pleased with it, although I do have to use a ladder (front of mh is tall, I am not). Putting a small lamp on the dash does not keep someone from seeing in at night - you still can stand outside and see everything inside.

wny_pat wrote: How to make your own windshield shade I basically follow these instructions, but ended up putting mine on the inside. Used the interior suction cups that RV Quick Shade sells. Brought my fabric (6' x 26') at Home Depot for $26 and had enough to do the whole coach. Pat, I'm aware of the shade for eyes while driving, UV and privacy aspects of your windshield shade. But if it was mounted on the outside would it help in deterring rocks from dinging your windshield? Thanks, John

I have used both outside and inside. I agree, outside shades reflect more heat than the inside. I purchased http://www.rvsunshades4less.com/home.html this year. They do exactly what we want. I can have them up in less than a minute. Take them down in pouring rain, store under the bed, and don't have to fold wet shades then try to place them in a storage compartment so as not to get other things wet. Also, the customer service was great.

One does not drive down the highway while these shades are in place, so you do not have to worry about the rocks dinging you windshield. They are only for campground/boondocking use.

I have no steel for magnets otherwise that would be great. I have snaps. A bitof a hassle to put up but easy to take down. If I could add suction for the quick ladder less stops on the top that would be good. Anybody added the suction cup to snaps.

I bought the MCD outside, that go on with snaps. I have a good ladder and am able to put on all 4 in just a few minutes. Here is a tip for taking them off. I'm sure many of you know already. Take your awning pull rod and wrap the hook end with electrical tape so it doesn't scratch paint. Put the hook end up by the snap and twist. It works so good, and you don't need the ladder to take them down. Macktee

Yup, and you forgot to mention bird poop, and all of the dirt that accumulates on the outside mounted screens. Mine are inside, always clean, can't see inside, from outside, and stow behind the couch in a couple of minutes. IMHO, inside is the only way to go. Oh, if it's heat yer lookin' to keep out, just lower the inside MCD's. Robbie P.S. This will take on a "Wal*Mart" type comparision with in a few more posts.
