4- It doesn't matter where in PEI as the island is only 40 miles long

Check again... it's closer to 140 miles long if you're driving end to end.

I guess the 1 before 40 didn't show up in my question.

We took a flight five years ago to PEI and stayed in Cavendish Beach. We didn't rent a car at that time, but now that we have a camper, we want to make the trip again and explore a little more.

New Glasgow Highlands is by far the nicest campground on PEI.The sites are seperate and wooded. The wind is never a problem. The washrooms are spotless. We camped there three times this past summer.

I too prefer Provincial parks. However, since the OP mentioned 3-way hook-ups as a priority, that may be a problem in Provincial parks. I don't know about PEI, but none of the Provincial parks we stayed in in western Canada (AB, BC, and YT) on our way to and from Alaska had hook-ups...

I thought I qualified my comment regarding PEI, and was just relating my experience in the western provinces as something the OP might consider looking into while investigating campgrounds.

Hi Dre,

Woodsy, FHU sites aren't that numerous on PEI. I have a few recommendations.

Glasgow Highlands
Cavendish National Park
Twin Shores

All three are quite popular so I would recommend resevations as early as possible at any of these if you are coming in July or early August.

We just got back from the Maritimes and while on PEI, stayed at 3 provincial parks. Only water and electric, but we can go a few days before needing a dump station. All three parks were more reasonable than private campgrounds and all were on the ocean/bay. Linkletter, near Summerside was our favorite, followed by Cedar Dunes on the West side and Red Point on the East side. Have fun.

WE have stayed at "New Glasgow Highlands" and very well pleased with owners and campground. As stated before very wooded and spotless. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed at Bayside RV Campground NW of Charlottesville on the northern coast.
Full hookups, very very big sites, easy day trip access to anywhere on the Island.
The camp host, Leonard, is a hoot!
