What gauge extension cord do you use when plugging into the house to charge up the battery and run the fridge until you leave?

if those are the only things running...
then there is not much of a draw at all.. 16ga would probably be fine depending on length.
I use a 12ga and can run the air no problem

If the cord gets warm to the touch it's too light. If it gets hot it's dangerous.

Nothing less than 12 gauge and I don't run the air off of that. The 12 will run the air but the cord gets warm and less than full voltage can do serious damage to the AC unit. If I want to run the AC at home I fire up the two Honda 2000's and parallel them. They can always use a little work and it is a good way to burn the old gas out of them.

We use the regular trl power cord and a 30-20Amp adapter to plug into a standard outlet.

12 guage up to 50 ft AC runs great. If I need to run the air past 50 ft 10 guage. If I go past 50 feet with a 12 guage the AC will struggle. I was told this can burun up the motor. When we dry camp I put my Champion Whisper Generator 100 feet away so I don't bug the neighbors late at night or stink em out. I use a 100 ft 12 guage no problems (no AC of course).

For just charging the battery and the refrigerator most any cord will do. that's probably only about 3 or 4 amps total. 16 AWG is probably the smallest available in a 3 wire outdoor cord. It will work fine.
