Do all TPMS require metal valve stems? Also, are most systems a relatively easy DIY? Thanks!

I have metal valve on all ten of my tires. Setup and install was easy. If you purchase a system from TST they are programed from the factory. Mine are now 5 years old. Very happy with them and customer support.

Agree with the metal valve stems they are a must have. I purchased the TST 507 system, it doesn't come programmed, you need to do that for each sensor when you install on a wheel location. Setup was pretty simple once you program each sensor to location on monitor/display. Had to play around with temp settings alarm etc but not a big deal. I previously had the pressure pro system and it was okay, but not at the expense of returning sensors to factory for battery replacement @ 50 bucks each after 2 years of use. The TST 507 system has user replaceable batteries which is a definite plus.

Metal valve stems are recommended, not required, but a good bet.

Installation and set up on Pressure Pro is easy.

Thanks everyone. Actually, we have not taken delivery of our new Fleetwood Bounder yet...so maybe it already has metal valve stems. Does anyone know whether the newer coaches come that way? I appreciate your feedback.

I believe tires 19.5 and larger have metal valve stems. Front tires on my MH which are 19.5 had metal valve stems. But could not install the sensors in the small hole that stem came out of wheel. Had to get a loner stem installed.
Outer rear wheel had stem pointed in. Could not get sensor on those wheels either. Put braided SS valve stem extension to mount sensor on. That lasted until I installed Crossfires on rear wheels.

Metal valve stems are highly recommended since the additional weight of the sensors cause flex and problems with the rubber stems.

After having one of my OEM high pressure rubber truck valve stems fracture (and another one not far behind) causing me to spend an hour on the side of the freeway waiting for AAA, I would say "Highly recommended" does NOT cover it.
I now have metal stems on my truck and trailer and will never install a rubber valve stem mounted TPMS again.
I have a TST system, which did a great job telling me I was losing air after the sensor had split the stem!
I still had 35psi in the tire when I stopped, so no tire damage.

I'm not sure where you have derived this info from. I have had my PP since 08 and all 10 sensors are still running just fine. The six on the mh stay there year around, but I do remove the ones on the toad during the winter time. I have never heard of a 2-year replacement requirement before. Also, the $50 bucks per sensor is not a hard and fast fact. I've seen them at the big rallies for $35 each. I would think that if I offered $25 each for 10 of them, they would go for it. At lease this is what I'm going to try when I do need to get replacements.

My Safari came with metal stems. It wouldn't surprise me if all 19.5 & 22.5 tires came with them.
