Hello, all. I am going to hijack this thread a little. I have a 1990 Hitchhiker with a Wedgewood oven/range. Does this oven have a thermocouple in the pilot? I am not seeing it, at least seeing what looks like a standard thermo-coupler to me. I would love to light and leave the pilot but am somewhat superstitious.

Hi Skip,

Do you have to hold in the knob if you light off the main burner?

My pilot light is at the very back of the oven and I have not used it because of the necessity of getting on my hands and knees.

Don, Perhaps you have already seen this post, but in case you missed it maybe it would be of interest.

I also have similar problem.I have a Suburban range(I don't know if it is the same as the Magic Chef)
My problem is, the pilot lights, but with a very small flame,it doesn't touch the probe. The LP pressure is good, tried adjusting the small screw,it is at max.,made sure the knob goes all the way in,no kinks in tubing, took pilot assembly apart and cleaned.
Somewhere I read that when the knob is turned up the pilot becomes larger and causes the burner to go on.What would be the defective part?
I would appreciate your help, the stove works good ,and I don't want to replace it. Thanks
