I'm a TC newbie but, definitely not a truck newbie. As I ordered the trucks, fire engines, etc for municipality I worked for I'm pretty sensitive to tires and wheels, and load balance. I've seen so many rigs on the road that are obviously overloaded with white knuckled owners driving them.
So, yes, I will look at all the resources here and those recommended. The search is ahlf the fun.
BTW, I really don't see a lot of TCs here in Florida like I expected.
Very True Bruce, I see three TC a year at the most. Finding a used one that isn't falling apart is also very challenging.

I also was responsible for the purchase of fire equipment plus many other things during my career. You learn a lot. If you look at what I am hauling with my 3500 you can see what can be done. It works great and the camper is super. Check out the Lance owners web site also. Lots of good info there and someone in Fla is selling an 1191.

Hi Bruce. As a part-time fellow Floridian, we had the same problem when we bought our Palomino Maverick TC. There really were not that many around to choose from - I even went to some of the mega dealers over on the west coast - lots of motorhomes and trailers but few or no truck campers.
We spent a lot of time here, at the dealer's web sites and on the phone to northern dealers finding what we wanted. Ended up buying long distance and picking up a new one from the factory. So our "first trip" was an extended trip from Indiana to Florida.
We have a short bed 2500 HD duramax single wheel. Have had the TC for about 3 years now and use it quite a bit! Enjoy your search and good luck!
Well, we went over to our local RV dealer, who also is a Lance dealer. We looked at three units. Two new Lances and one used Aventurer 811. One of the Lances was an 830 and the other an 855S with a slide for the dinette and the other had a side entry and no slide. Something like a Lance 825 style is pretty much all that we need.
I wasn't interested in any of these units but, it was good to go inside one and see if this was something we'd like. They're bigger than we thought.
Time to weigh the truck wet so I can get an idea of what payload I have left. Looks like the Excel sheet I found here will work fine.
Oh, and I got the dope on what "our" unit needs. A/C, satellite TV, and wet bath. Guess I got my orders.
Overcab sagging is common on older wood framed campers that have water damage. Common areas for water to get in are through the front and side clearance lights, the front and side overcab windows and the roof vent, as well as the screws holes for the jack brackets.
Well, I've been off racing so I haven't had much chance to work on aquiring a TC. While racing Division races and one National I saw a lot of racers with TCs from other parts of the country.
The fella pitting next to me at two races had a Fleetwood Angler. Seemed to be a nice unit. It looked liked the over cab section was beginning to sag a bit though. Is this a common problem? I looked to see if he had any sidewall delamination but there didn't appear to be any. He also had an auxiliary grey water tank because as he put it "racing requires a shower every day".
Why I need a TC? I spent 1k on a motel room for the Gatornationals, $750 at two other races, and put 500 miles on my truck driving home every night for a third race. I have a race coming up in Bristol, TN in August.
