Well I had the tires mounted back in July, but this was our first trip out with the new set up. We drove some 500 miles to Indiana for a 4 day outing. I ended up with a Kumho 857 load range C tire that had a speed rating of 106. They have a 1874# load capacity which is nice compared to the stock 13" Marathons which were rated at 1480#. They were on closeout and I paid $86 each. They fit fine in the Jayco wheel well and with the extra sidewall height of the tire and the addition of the 14" rim, the trailer sits one and 1/4 inch higher. Just thought I would share as some had asked me to post after I had the tires on the camper and road tested. As of now, I am quite pleased with the new setup.
Happy camping, well I guess I have to wait until Spring!

I guess we have purchased 6+ Kumho sets of four over the last 8 years from 14" though 22.5". Never ran them on a trailer but have never had a tire failure or holes that did not patch well. Hope you stay blow out free and expect you will with that 400 pound added capacity per tire. Most all trailers can really use another inch of wheel size to get into really safe rated tires.

I have never used Kumho on a trailer either, but I did run Kumho on the Trans Am. I am not kidding, that car did as well in the rain as my regular daily "front-drive" car does. Before I put the Kumho tires on the Trans Am. It was down right dangerous on wet roads. Im sure I will consider Kumho tires again.

OK, you got 1-1/4" additional ground clearance! The mixed text and numbers threw me off for a minute.

Are these ST215/75R14C tires? My factory fitted ST205/75R14C tires are rated at 1760 pounds each. Good to know I may be able to increase capacity although the axle weight on my trailer can't be much more than 4500 pounds and I have 7040 pounds of tire capacity -- darn axles and springs will break before the tires! (The 14" tires along with a 3" frame lift were part of the Roo "4" height riser kit".)

I run mine at the same specified sidewall pressure of 50psi as the 13" tires and get uniform tread wear. Recommend you do the same and monitor the wear pattern. Even at 35psi your new tires have more capacity than your old tires so a little pressure loss shouldn't be catastrophic. If you run lower pressure monitor tire heat as heat breaks down the tire components and causes those sidewall blowouts. If the center of the tread seems to wear faster I'd decrease in small 5psi steps but there may be more expert experience on this.

Gale, those were my thoughts going into this.
Thanks for the good wishes!

Chevyman- I did not know of the Kumho trailer tires either, but liked the idea of a speed rating, and the extra load capacity and they seem to be the only ones that fit that bill!

As for Chevys....Love them as well. I am partial to a certain 1970 Chevelle convt.
take care,
Dave

Chuck, the tires have the axles beat as far as load capacity, that is for sure. And sorry about the one and 1/2 inch deal. I had written 1 1/2" originally but it didn't look right so I changed it, but you are right, it looks better that way. As for tire pressure, I did not think about running them a bit lower....HMMM.

Did you have to get new rims to accommodate the 14" tires? Also curious if you have the lift kit on your 23B?
