I wrote this piece on going full time 13 years ago.
We are the other end of full timing. Our 2nd grandchild is a week old and we decided that maybe we will sell the RV and buy a house. We will probably get a smaller RV and still do some traveling. It's been a great 13 years.
BTW I still have all my tools and more in the Freightliner and DW has 1 cabinet on the truck full of quilting supplies.

wow, I am exhausted. I am so glad we emptied the house of everything but staging furniture before we put it on the market. When it sold, one week before the closing we held a "garage/furniture" sale and sold what was in the house. done.

I couldn't stop laughing. What a story. We are in the process now of getting rid of stuff and yes, why do we buy all this junk. Keeping the economy going. We will start out in Feb or March full timing.

We were lucky we decided to go full time and took several weeks to clean out our junk. Moved into RV and started cleaning up. Very large yard sale, sold mowers, tools, a tractor, furniture, a lot of stuff to daughters then the dump thing. Put house on market and it sold in 2 months, told you we were lucky. Been fultiming for 4 years now and love it. Ask wife if she wanted a house agan and she said NO. Enjoy the life it is great. Life is good with a few hiccups every now and then. George

Yes, the glorious stuff. We were there and we have since gotten rid of the Tshirt. The great thing is after almost two years of fulltimig, our stuff seems to continue to shrink. Or at least it seems that way until it's time to move. Glad you made it through the wilderness to the promised land.

We also decided in 1999 to start planning on Fulltiming once DH retired. But when my job got too stressful and we had lost one of our sons in an accident, I began traveling with hubby for his work.
First in an Extended-Stay Motel (a month), that led to a Corp Apt (7 mos), then "Hello, we can do this in a 5th wheel" (7th yr).
We solved the storage bill by storing everything we still wanted at one of our kids houses. They've bought and sold homes since then (so have we), but everything is now in one location again.
Am thankful every day that we didn't have to wait until retirement. Semi-retirement is only about 3 yrs away. YaHoo, can't wait.

Ijust got my 5er this week. I have been going through my house getting rid of "stuff". I have been through it once and going through again. As soon as I get it ready to put on the market it will be basically empty.
I brought some things for the 5er with me this week and will be coming back to TX in 2 wk for the holidays. When I come back I will bring more for the 5er..like pots and pans etc. I have spent this week for the "shake down" to see what works and what does not work...so far everything is great.
I hope by the time I sell my house there won't be much left in it to get rid of. Call the trash company for a huge trash can in the drive and finish throwing the last of it away.

I got a real kick out the whole process. We started off with just going to take a winter in AZ and then decide to sell the house.....we ended up spending the following summer doing just what y'all did. I was so exhausted when we finished I needed a vacation for the vacation. The kids did the same thing, why are you getting rid of that? I'll take it. Thank God for our son, I'd call and he'd come spend the whole weekend helping haul stuff away. (filled his car up too to take back to his place) and then when it was all done I said there was no way I was cleaning the house or the carpets or the whatever and we hired someone to come in and do that. I was never so glad to be finished and heading out in my life, I can look back now and giggle about it all but at the time it wasn't a lot of fun. That was in 2008 and we have had a wonderful life ever since. We look at houses and then say no thank you, I love the way we live. Don't want to go back to the old sticks and bricks......like things just the way they are.
