Go onto their web site and print out a $4.00 co-pay card. I did and my co-pay at Kroger's went from $40.00 to $4.00 a month! That savings should pay for an extra tank of gas! Well, at least half a tank of gas. Who am I kidding.

I believe Lipitor is one of the prescription meds that is about to go generic. If so that will save a lot of coin.

I found out about it from my Pharmacist and signed up on the web site a few months ago. Got my card in the mail a couple of weeks later. Good deal. They are trying to keep customers after it goes generic.

Is $4.00 a month all you pay plus the Lipitor card or do you need prescription insurance as well?

I just ordered a refill on my Lipitor from Medco, and was charged at the generic rate. $10 copay compared to $70 for 3 months supply. I have been using the Lipitor $4 card for about a year. I would pay the $70 copay then send them the bill and they would reimberse all but $12 for the 3 months supply.

Patent has indeed, run out. Ranbaxy was supposed to develop the generic. As of a month ago, there is a court case. Lipitor is the most successful drug, in terms of revenue, in the history of the industry. Apparently, they are stalling the generic agreement. I don't know the particulars of the case, but assume it will be settled next year.

Here is some info from the lipitor.com website:
Quote: To qualify for this offer, your out-of-pocket expense must be greater than $4 per prescription. If your out-of-pocket expenses for a 1-month supply (30 tablets) are $54 or less, you will pay $4 for a 1-month supply. If your out-of-pocket expenses for a 1-month supply (30 tablets) exceed $54, you qualify for up to $50 in savings for a 1-month supply. In either case, you can only qualify for up to $600 of savings per calendar year. After maximum of $600, you will pay usual monthly out-of-pocket costs.

That price is with my prescription coverage. I have a $40.00 co-pay. Generic is available now. With the card, I only have to pay $4.00 which is less than my co-pay for generic brands.
