I recommend this source so often that I guess it is time to mention that I have no financial interest (except the hundreds of dollars I have spent on their publications over the years.) or affiliation in any way. Their description of book contents, speed in delivery, and frequent sales are right on.

I've used the Trailer Life Directory on CD for several years. It will show just about everything you want and has various search functions. It has much more than just camping information. For instance, if you want to visit a third cousin in Boise, Idaho and have never been there, just type in the address and it will lead you to the front door.

Not necessarily a guidebook, but we enjoy the National Audubon Society's Field Guide of Birds. Nice to be able to see a bird and read about its characteristics - as we travel we see a great variety of birds.

I use my 6 year old Woodall's Campground Directory, a 10 year old Rand-McNally Atlas and a 5X lighted magnifying glass. So far, so good.

What I really like about the Woodalls Directory is the CD disk that comes with it. The printed directory weighs about 5 pounds and the print is so small, not even a 5x would help me. Perhaps a 10x (if they make them).

We carry the whole set of Audubon guides: Birds, flowers, insects, et al. Also the Net Geo bird guide and several other references. I joke about our reference library filling one entire cabinet. I am pretty good with all our home species, but when we travel to other parts of the country I have to look them up.
