For those of you that have the portable,(non hard wired) surge protector what clever ideas have you come up with to deter theft?
I know you can purchase the clasp that will secure it to your 30/50 amp cord.
Please, no comments about hardwiring it inside, not my question.
I heard once of someone epoxying a hasp of some sort to it that he could put a chain and lock on.
Gotta be some clever ideas out there.

I don't sweat it......

My cord unplugs from side of RV so thief could just take the whole dang set up.

We travel FT and haven't had a problem in the past 5 yrs. with anything being stolen. We have full homeowners ins. on rig.
We also make it a habit to introduce ourselves to any neighbors and drop in the conversation that it's just us.....no one else....hint, hint....will be around our rig.

At first we bought a cable and lock and wrapped the cable tight around the power post but now we don't do anything. No problems. Most people don't know what it is, or how much it costs.

Time to camp.

I would rather someone just take the thing, then cut my power cord and take it. If someone wants it that bad, have it.

Cover it with a black plastic bag (out of site out of mind) besides they are not waterproof, never know when it will rain or sprinklers will come on.

they are not waterproof? aren't they supposed to be plugged in at the post? silly way to make one. unless you are going for repeat sales or repair work.

You can get a bracket that superglues on, then you can chain it down like a computer monitor or copier via a Kensington cable. It costs like $10 for the Kensington slot adapter and a cable + cheap padlock. I also recommend covering it with a plastic bag -- thieves usually tend not to look at the pedestals for something they can grab to trade for their next hit.

My exact sediment too...I bought the lock mechanism for mine and then thought, heck they'll just take my whole power cord too. I do as others, throw a plastic bag around it and hope for the best.
