We just purchased a 300# motor scooter (similar to a Vespa). Can anyone recommend an inexpensive rack for the back of the RV to go in the hitch receiver. We don't tow a vehicle so this will be our new mode of transportation around town when we go camping. Since I frequently RV without my husband I'd like something fairly simple that I can maneuver the scooter on and off of by myself. Maybe something that the scooter can be wheeled on to. I don't need anything fancy or expensive.

I have this carrier.

It's made a few long trips with my 250# Kymco scooter. The latest was a 2300 mile trip this past summer. It was inexpensive. Though it works very well, if I had it to do over, I would get a carrier that was a little more heavy duty. I strap my scooter down with ratchet straps, and also run a couple straps from the carrier to my truck to stabilize it better.
Good luck.

I've got one similar to the above on my 32' Bounder MH. Am carrying a 350lb Honda Reflex (maxi-scooter). The MH hitch is quite high and and carrier ramp was too short. Got a longer ramp and added a couple more tie down hooks and it works fine.

Greetings from sunny Florida!!!I built a rack for my genny,BBQ and mountain bikes that with tweaking would haul a scooter around,i'd bet you know a welder or can have one fabed out for you the way YOU want it for what you would pay for some P.O.S. built in china. Merry Ho-Ho to you and yours!!

First of all I can't make, modify or weld anything. I went on that link for the scooter rack, but the reviews all say it is flimsy. Does anyone have an actual rack on their RV that they could recommend as being easy to load, stable and good quality? The reviews on the one rack said it needs 2-3 people to load and unload and I will sometimes be on my own. I don't mind paying a little more for something with the above qualities. I especially don't want to worry about the rack failing while I'm driving the RV.

Look here. I carry a 250 lbs bike on a made in china carrier that is rated for 4 or 500 lbs ... I don't trust it. I will be building a new on this spring, but if I was to order one I would get on with a high rating like 800 lbs.
