Well, we are tapping out the area for campgrounds. we are looking for something nice within 4 hours of the NW Chicago suburbs. Elgin area.

We found a couple. we know this one is farther, but has anyone been to Tilleda Falls in Shawano WI. checked RVPR and the last review was July 04!

Any ideas?

Few years ago we stayed at the Chicago Northwest KOA. We were about 20 minutes from the train station by car, and took the train to Chicago, hopped a bus and spent some fantastic time at the Navy Pier.

We enjoyed the campground, but really didn't spend much day time there!

Several very nice campgrounds on the MIssissippi along that area. All the way from 20 miles south of Davenport to the Piere de-chen area.

Try Chain O Lakes state Park just south of the Wisconsin border. I haven't stayed there but I drove through and it was very nice!

Sorry it`s for Memorial Day 2012. with the exception of the Mississippi river area the other recomendations are only about 45 minutes from our house. we want something farther away with things to see and do.

Thanks again!

We are making a stop to our hometown of Geneva next summer and tough to find a place near you; the one in Elgin is eh it seems; staying in Sycamore.

We then head to Minneapolis and found this for an overnight - not cheap, especially on holidays but you might look at it. I show it to be 170 miles from Sycamore.

Here is a real nice campground in Niles, MI. Particularly nice if you have kids. It's one of the nicest, cleanest parks we've ever found.

We really like Stoney Creek in Osseo, WI which is right on 94. Great park for kids and has access to ATV trail complex.
