They're only trying to give us what they think we want. Or maybe to trying to justify their high prices by trying to appear "exclusive".

I really like the 10 yr. rule. Why would I want a 11 yr. old junker setting next to my 10 yr. old jewel ?

As an RV park owner, I will give my side of this 10-year rule story.
Many of you would be amazed at the quality of RVs that pull in wanting
to stay a night, a week, or longer. They have windows duct-taped in;
doors replaced with slabs of plywood, blue tarps on the roof, etc, etc.
I might add the quality of the people in them is consistent with the RV quality,
in most cases.
In our park we do not have a 10-year rule, we have an 'RV Condition' list
(no window a/cs, doors/windows must be in place, etc.)
I have always maintained condition is much more important than age. Would think it a little absurd to turn down a 1970s Airstream that owner just put
$25,000 + into restoring, for example.
On the other hand, I have seen many RVs less than 10 years old that we don't
let past the registration area.
IMHO the 10-year rule is more prevelant in parks with absentee owners, who want to give their manager something rigid, so he/she won't have to make a judgment decision on the RV condition.
Security is one of the main issues in RV parks. People feel more secure around nice equipment than around trashed-out RVs, hence the reason for this issue.
My opinions.
Thanks,

Even before my rig was ten years old, I have consciously avoided ten-year-rule parks. I don't care how old someone's RV is. It's the owner's considerate behavior that I care about.

If the parks around here had that rule, they would be empty.

What those parks are telling you, is they don't want your money. Give it to someone else and enjoy yourself. You probably would'nt like the people there any way. Most are grumpy, cause there portfolio tanked, or they missed a putt, and had to cough up a grand, to someone who knows nothing about golf.

Ive only run into it once and even then they let me in but put me in a secluded area from the others ( but hey it was next to the lake! )I wont go back there but my unit looks pretty nice and everything works and no one else seems to mind -it is a 1990 B. I respect their right to do what they want with their own property.

I have never had a problem with the ten year rule even when I had a unit over ten years old. I was once told that I had 3 days to get my rig washed. I had just come through a well sanded mountain pass while raining and was a bit muddy. That was with a one year old rig and I was only staying one night so I ignored it and haven't been back. I also had to send 4 view pictures of my rig to a place in Vegas before they would accept my reservation, rig 2 years old then and they knew that. I will go back there for it was explained to me it was to keep the junk out. There were lots of rigs there that were way over 10 years old, not necessarily pristine but neat and maintained. Just because the old B&S needs a coat of paint does not mean you have to store old rusted cars and garbage in the front yard if you lnow what I mean.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

Thanks for this thread. I had wondered about enforcement of these rules and it seems your posts reinforce my suspicions that the rules are there to give the park owner an out. I prefer the approach of parkmanaa who has the "conditions list" as it seems a more honest way to deal with the issue. Sometimes as customers we forget that a business owner has a say in the transaction also. As a business owner I've denied service for a variety of reasons. I based my decisions on my experience and instinct. I'm sure that based on their own experience owners of RV parks find it's better to turn some rigs away at the gate. Are they always right? I'm sure not. But I support their right to do so.
