We are thinking of buying a Select Number mattress. My question " Where does the pump sit? How long are the wires to the controlls? There is not much room in bedroom of my rig.

If you are talking about a Sleep Number Bed, the pump sits under the bed and the air tubes go from the pump into the head board side of the mattress.

The pump needs to be plugged into a standard A/C outlet. The pump is approx. 8x8x4 inches...air tubes are about index finger diameter.

Pump generally sits below the bed, so if you have a pedestal you may have to drill holes to accomodate the air tubes. Don't see why you couldn't put it elsewhere if the tubes are long enough or you extend them. You won't have to use it much. Don't know about the wires to the controller. Have you thought about the wireless ones? We have that in the s&b, and they work fine.

With my rig, it is just about impossible to put it under the bed. Half of it sits above a rear compartment & the forward half has the fresh water tank , pump, a filter, fuse box & etc.. But it could go along side of this. I was thinking of sitting it on a night stand (if that what it's called), AC right there also. Not much room to work with in this rig but wife wants a better bed!

Tempurpedic has none of these issues. Plus your wife will love that when you roll over, or answer a call of nature during the night, she won't feel any movement at all. Besides, sooner or later, one of you will probably need the night stand for a CPAP!

On the fifth-wheel forum there is a conversation going on about the Select Comfort mattresses, you might tune in over there and see what people are saying.

Check carefully before you buy, I sold mine one a while ago, not happy with it. Every time we drove to a different altitude we had to adjust the pressure. Plus I didn't like the solid borders or the piece down the middle. We wound up with a much less expensive good mattress and a Costco foam topper, which works great for my wife's back. The only advantage we had to the sleep number was that it was lighter and easier to lift for the storage below.

Had one and returned it ... lots of problems with them. If you are on the road and cannot pump up one side, where are you going to sleep? It can take a week or two to get replacement parts.

We just replaced our queen size sleep number bed with a king size one. We really like our sleep number beds and have not had any issues with them. I am going to put the queen size bed in our motorhome.

In checking under the bed I don't have any room to position the pump and run the air lines. I do have room on one side of the bed to place the pump and there is an electrical outlet just above that location. I will cut a 2" hole in the side of the bed and route the air lines through there and then up under the head end of the platform. I will then drill a 1" hole for each air line to the mattresses. There is a small channel that the air lines will lay in under the platform. My air lines aren't long enough to do this so I called Sleep Number and they sent me 2 4' extenstion air lines at no cost. This is the plan.

I just installed a Sleep Number Premier RV King Radius mattress yesterday. This replaced the original mattress that came with my 5'er which was******to begin with. I should have made this change a year ago....Oh well. There is plenty of room in my 5'er to put the pump on a small shelf beside the bed platform and the side wall of the bed slide. I then ran the two air hoses up over the side of the bed platform and into the head end of the mattress. The original hose length was fine. I just coiled up the excess and left over the side of the platform where the pump is. My unit has the wireless remote so I don't have control wires to worry about.
This mattress is lighter than the original one so the gas struts hold it up fine to access the storage under the bed.
I have to say this is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. I really didn't want to get up this morning.
Memory foam doesn't work for me in any configuration so I'm really glad this bed is available.
