Good morning,
I have macular degeneration(wet) in my right eye. I have been getting injections(shots) in that eye every 6 weeks since June and have not notice much difference in my eyesite. Still see 1 1/2 golf balls when putting.
Does anybody have the same problem with their eyes? (never mind the golf balls, just trying to put some humor on a serious and depressing subject. Does it get better and if so when?

Thanks for you input

Yes I have MD wet in the right eye too. Was diagnosted about 4 yrs ago and was getting the shot every 6 weeks also. A friend told me about Vision Sense a product by Northstar. I started taking them and the next time I went for a checkup I didn't require a shot. That was April 2010. My checkups have gotten longer between them, currently 6Mo. and I haven't required a shot since. My last checkup in July my right eye vision had actually improved a little, I don't see it but the test did. I test myself with the Amsler Grid from time to time.
Good luck

I am also undergoing Avastin injections....every 4 weeks.

As I understand it..the injections are not a cure for wet MD but are an attempt to arrest any further deterioration of eyesight. I have talked to folks in the waiting rooms that have had 25-40 injections with no idea how long they will continue.

In my case, I get a series of three and then a complete retinal examination. The doctors then decide the next step. I have had two of these series and have an appointment on the 24th for the complete examination. Based on the results, they may stop them for a while, extend the interval, or initiate another monthly series of three.

I am 73 and don't relish the thought of a lifelong regimen of monthly injections but if they prevent any further loss of eyesight.....I'll live with them.

Good luck to you.

Sorry for the late responce but was sick yesterday with lower end problems. I don't think I need to go any farther.

Thanks for your responces. I am taking a "macular health formula" vitamin that my Doc. recommened. Don't see much difference. So will try the one that was suggested eariler. I believe it was "vision sense" Maybe that will help. I should note that this condition had been ongoing for about a year. It was slow in developing that is why I didn't notice it right away.
It sure makes it hard to back up my 5th-wheel. Wife is not much help as she won't drive the rv period. She would if we had a class A. Can't afford that.

Thanks again,
Nels

I have the dry kind and have lost some light in my direct vision. Imagine changing all your light bulbs from 60watt to 40. But the eyesights still good. Feel for you having to have shots in the eye.

Have you had a complete physical recently?

Some eye problems have .. underlying medical causes.

If you schedule a physical tell the doctor about your eye issues.

Not saying the General Doctor will find anything of interest, but hey, regular physicals are a good thing in any case.

And yes, I have one of those "underlying problems".. No eye issues to lay on it (yet) however, and hoping to keep it that way.
