Likely having to overnight near Tepic on way home in March.
Would anyone have the coordinates for the Los Pinos RV Park in Tepic?

How long a rig do you have. If it a class C or truck camper or shorter trailer, consider laguna Santa maria del Oro, 30 miles east of Tepic. Beautiful fresh water lake in a crater.

We were there in November. You have to try to get there fairly early in the day or you may be asking people to move vehicles as there isn't much maneuvering room at the entrance because people park for the little shopping mall. And, there is a height restriction, but sorry I don't have the figure. We are 11'6" and didn't have a problem.

Our concern at Los Pinos was our length. We left our 40' Bus at a nearby Pemex and drove our toad to the park to check it out. The parking area and the entrance looked to tight for a big rig so we did not try. The place is real nice but I don't think a rig much over 30' could get in. Kevin - what do you think about length?

We are 37'. I see Bells Ontheroadin comment says gate entry height is over 13'so no problem there. It also shows coordinates...thanks Mex.
I have sent them email with my particulars...no reply yet.

GrampaKoot,
I tried to look on Google Earth but the picture they have is from way back when before the shopping center in from of the park was built - plus you wouldn't see the details from above. The entrance to the park is sort of between two buildings but more like a sort of hole in the buildings as there is the overhead too. The problem is there is a turn from the shopping center into this entrance and then the sort of entrance drive itself is not straight so you have to turn and then curve to make your way into the park. I just thought it was too tight. Even if they got all the cars to move it would be tricky.
I also know the problem is where to stop along the way if you are going from say Guadalajar area to Mazatlan - there are no other RV parks along the way for big rigs. We thought of staying in a Pemex in Tepic but were unable to find one suitable - trucks stay in them be they are small and tight and not too RV friendly as far as we could tell - others may have more details.
So along the way between Guad and Tepic there are a couple of toll plazas with reasonably large parking which is secure and lighted. But when we went through there the week before Christmas hoping to be able to stay in one of those there were too many Paisanos on the road blocking up the parking areas so we could not get in.
That's about all I know but others may be able to add.

Thanks Brian/Sue. Looks like Los Pinos is a no fit for us.
Also...we are heading north to Lukeville. Let me elaborate a bit about our schedule.
We will be leaving from Los Mangos RV Park in Bucerias around 2pm on 20th.(dropping kids & grand kids at PV airport around noon). Normally, if we left at 8am we would make it to Mazatlan or farther for our first overnight. We see nothing with an RV Park, of a comfortable distance if leaving at 2pm, that we could reach before nightfall other than Tepic.
Looks like we might have to leave early on 21st instead.
Thanks for all your comments.

You can make Villas Onac at Teacapan. A few km backtracking down the penninsular, but a nice place. Why are you going via Tepic? I would go via San Blas, even with a larger rig, it's no worse than the climb up from Las Varas

Phil, I'd leave on the 21st and overnight in Celistino at one of the parks there. That puts you through Mazatlan for the next days start.
