need a little more information--when we made the trip last year, the campground at south of the border was easy cheap and met our needs nicely. the next stop was around florida and can stay at any of the rest areas for a quick rest and then on to your destination.

KOA's are close to highways, easy on & off. DW gets too nervous at WM's. Have a Great & Safe Trip.

We love casinos for layovers. Feel safe with all the security, usually open 24 hours, can eat a little, play a little and usually fairly quiet. I'm about to do the same trip from ny to Daytona in a few days, south of the boarder is usually a good place too.

A second vote for Pedro's campground at South of the Border (SC/NC state line). Less than $25, pull through level full hook up sites, gated entry, dated but decent bath houses, a large neon lit complex of resturants and other stuff, right off and on the highway, but far enough not to have too much noise.

Add
6} KOA Smithfield NC. Great BBQ and fried chicken just down the road at Holt Lake BBQ
7) Bass Lake Campground just south of the NC/SC border at Exit 193 in SC. Great folks and very reasonably priced.

Walmart in Emporia VA. Use "upper" parking area. Well lighted and easy walk to restaurants.
