I'm thinking once I get my Camper rig set up, I'd like to start exploring.
Is there a book thats is focused in the SoCal area for campgrounds with details & or how well might a book with a much wider area than SoCal be?
Just thought it might be fun to start looking through a book & start with a list of places we would like to visit?
being my 1st rig, I've never before given much thought to places I can or cant camp & what makes one place better than another?
Thanks for your input.
1997 Dodge 4x4, 5 spd manual trans & HotRod 5.9 cummins.
With '85 Lance.
Thanks for the link, but that looks more like just one place I was looking for bathroom material in a book with many places to add to a wish list of locations I would like to visit.
& asked about the SoCal area 1st being thats more realistic than starting off with the whole country..
AAA has a camping book with a bunch of campgrounds depending on location. If your like KOA's they also have a list of campgrounds. Check out ReserveAmerica.com and recreation.gov and you'll find state and federal campsites. I know not bathroom material, but it'll get you the info you are looking for. Also you can look online for specific counties as most have some type of campgrounds.

That looks like a good link except those books seem to focus on Tents, I don't like tents, so I'm looking for books with RV Camping to camp in my Truck Camper once I get it all set up.
& to JCGHILL: Thats a great Idea!
I'm a current Triple A member with RV coverage & bet they have lots of reading material to enjoy while in the home library. LOL!
The very best book you can own..based on the fact that I've literally wore out 4 copies of these things..is "California Camping" by Tom Stiestra by Foghorn Press...runs around $15.00...and has been out camping "Bible" for 30 years. It's updated every few years, and Tom is a famous oudoorsman that rates the campgrounds based mostly on his own experiences, including his favorite fishing holes! 1500 campgrounds! Tent, Hike-in, RV....State, Remote, Little known places, campgrounds known only to locals, Private, Federal, BLM...it's all there including cheap and free, and prices, ammenities and rates.
We give it ***** 5 Stars, two thumbs up, a Gold Star and a hearty endorsement!

So is this books for RV types like I'm becoming with a Truck Camper or more towards tent Camping?
The price is right & it sound like a great library/Bathroom book
But before I order it I must ask that?
You'll see in his books some remote campgrounds that are vehicle accessable, yet in many of them we never saw or even heard another vehicle on the road for several days, when we had tent trailers and an all wheel drive SUV. Some where in the San Bernadino Mountains! Creeks, pine trees, all the wildlife you can tolerate. And up in the Shasta area we were camp'n for a week and a half and never saw another person except the local Forest Ranger...he didn't even collect the fee's!
