We need to replace the key on our 97 Winnebago Sunrise.
Right now we have no access to our storage compartments. According to our Manual, we have Strattec locks and it includes the serial number. It's different from the standard locks we've had on previous traval trailers.

We tried a local locksmith, but he could not make us a key. I'm wondering if we can get or order a replacement key somewhere with the manual's information.

Any information on this subject is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

It will be a generic lock/key of some sort.Check with a rv dealer
any salesman that knows the used RV market will know which key it is
there are only a few keys used in the old days

Ask a fellow RV'er some storage compartments use the same keys. Might get lucky.

A locksmith will take care of any key problem quickly and with less hassle than trying to go back to the dealer, factory or whatever. All competent locksmiths have Strattec codes and can cut keys from that code number if it is available. If not, it is still a fairly straight forward procedure to make a key.

To make a key off of a number a special key machine is required. Not every locksmith has this machine. I would grab the phone book and start calling around.

I have had bad luck going to small one or two person locksmiths (unless it is just a simple house key). I now go to a large one and they have never let me down. Just a thought.

We ended up taking off with a screwdriver, without damaging it. We took it to a more knowledgeable locksmith and now we have a key!

Thank you everyone for all your input.
