I'm looking for some advice about my golf cart and how to take it with me,i have 38' CC Daydreamer and a four seater precident golf cart, originally i was going to build a swivel wheel trailer but as triple towing in Georgia and Florida is illigal that's looking like a bad option so hows about hanging the cart off the rear of the fiver',i have a class III reciever hitch welded to the frame and i'm starting to think this is the way to go,i imagine a couple of arms off both ends of the hitch sticking out to support two pieces of steel channel the width of the tires. So waddya' all think!

I would be concerned with the weight on the back of the 5er.

I thought the swivel wheel platform was not a double tow, but an extension of the 5er since there was no pivot point???

Yeah,as far as the weight is concerned a couple of my rv buddies are of the opininion that my fiver is so heavy it won't make a difference and after talking to the Florida DOT their position is if it has wheels and lights it's a trailer so thats that,as a visiting Canadian i'm not willing to break the laws of a country that has shown me and Frau Blücher so much hospitality, this going to Florida for the winter is the way to go,all that's missing is my cart!!

I doubt that your 5'er frame could support that much weight bouncing up and down without damaging it.

Did you consider renting a golf cart? We go down to the RGV and there are co's that deliver them to your site.

Just a thought.
Good luck

We're in FL and rented a cart this season for 3 months.
My wife hurt her knee and could not ride her bike to the activities. If you decide to go this route, you may want to call in advance and try to reserve a cart. When we tried to rent we had to make quite a few calls to find one.

I doubt your fifth wheel has the sufficient frame strength. I also would doubt your pickup has the capability to safety tow the combination.

My friend did exactly what you want to do. He hauled his golf cart on a basket that attached to his Teton fifth wheel using three receiver hitches. He did this successfully for several years.

His Teton fifth wheel, (24,000 GVWR), has a 14-inch I-beam frame. Teton frames run all the way to the rear bumper. Without the golf cart his pin weight ran near 6,000 lbs. With the golf cart his pin weight was down to 5,000 lbs. He used an MDT to tow the combination.

His only complaint of the setup was he had to be very careful in making turns. The golf cart basket would swing into other lanes when making turns.

On our last trip I saw a 5er with a platform on the back like you described. The guy had a Polaris Razor on it, I know those things are much heavier than a golf cart...I didn't get a chance to see how it was built because we where on the road and he was traveling the other direction. I believe it can be done though, depending on the rigidity of you 5r. I wouldnt go the TH route unless you are going to get one of the "garage models" especially since you are traveling from Canada and living in it all winter. TH are not built for comfort and you are already used to the amentities of your 5r.
