How many more times are we going to hear about the violence in Mexico? (Mostly caused by drug violence and the activists in that trade). How many more times are we going to be advised that we should not travel here? How many more armchair travellers are going to tell us who come to Mexico every year that we should not be here? How many more people are going to tell us that the good old USA has better travel experience than anywhere else? Why should the USA be the criterion for beautiful places? If you have it in your mind or heart to travel to anywhere, you will do it. If you believe everything you read in the media, you won't. If you read this forum and listen those people who actually do some travelling, you will have a great time when you take your heart in your hand and actually do what you want to do. I have travelled all my life in many places, and have never regretted any of it. Get a life, people, and live it.

I guess we will hear about it as long as people keep posting articles on the forum.

maggybeck - I live 12 miles from Mexico. I have been there many many many times in my life. I used to go at least once a month to work in a charity in Tiajauna. We used to fly and hotel or rent house in Mexico. I have stopped going. Why. Bodies and heads hung from freeway overpasses is why. And that was just 50 miles from me.

In a million years I would not drive our beautiful motor home to Mexico. That is even after the violence goes back down if it does. I might take an old motor home to Mexico, but not a nice expensive one.

I have a great deal of personal experience in the good and bad places in Mexico. I will grant that I think the problems down there are improving, but by a huge margin the USA is a safer place to drive your rig than Mexico. And this is no reflection on the average Mexican citizen who I believe to be very safe to be around. But criminal violent elements have been allowed to get our of hand down there.

Funny, you read the paper in the states ??? The local shootings does not even make the front page ?

If you all voted to Legalize all the drugs that is consumed NOB the crimes would end..

We like to be kept informed so we can make informed decisions, regardless of the locale.

Nothing wrong with that.
