......or even in Florida....heaven forbid.....or even worse in good old "law & order" Canada. Bad stuff happens, its unfortunate but that's part of life! Get on with life as you know it and enjoy.
Where in the states or Canada have you seen headless bodies hanging from an overpass.. Where in the US or Canada have you seen severed heads or dismembered bodies lying on the sidewalk.. Yes, bad stuff happens in the US and Canada, but not to the extreme that it is happening in Mexico. Good valid information of what is happening where in Mexico is information that those who chose to travel in Mexico need to see, so they can make an informed decision as to where they want to go.
My examples below just show how bad the problem is and that it is getting worse. It is coming to a town near you if it hasn't already. Cartels have been at work in major U.S. cities since 2005 and are growing. Drugs are big business globally not just in North America (Canada, U.S., Mexico).
I once lived in a quiet little sleepy town where we thought nothing could ever happen. Well, it did and here we are. They killed our mayor and half the police force. How are we affected? We're not. Stay out of their way, use big city precautions and you will be fine. That doesn't mean just for Mexico, anywhere in the world you travel today.
My sister lives in a farming town of 450 in northwest Missouri. They don't farm anymore, they produce meth. She says if she dares go out at night, it is like zombies walking the 15 blocks of her town. If it isn't chained down it is gone in the morning, including her llamas she was raising.
Fences won't work, immigration laws won't work. It is the new business and it is affecting all of us in some way or another.
So how does tie into rving, it doesn't. We should move on to enjoying rving, in a global sense, share pictures and information about where to rv and if there are issues where not to go and what not to do.
When I log onto RV.Net, I look to see what the new topic's are as I guess many others do. I dont brother to look at what category any particular post is in.....if its on this Forum, then its fair game for anyone/everyone here. If you dont want something read and debated, I suggest you not post at all in any category! IMHO

BUT, why do you even look on this forum and feel the need to post about why you won't travel there??? I will NEVER travel to Alaska either by road or boat (again), but I don't go on the Alaska forum and post why I dislike it and that I would never travel there. I don't go on the Motor Home forum and post about how much better I think a 5th wheel is. I don't feel the need to tell everyone that they are stupid to overload their rig. Enough said from me!!!
There can only be a couple reasons why
·they· keep writing. The first is they are racist, biased and bored. (this a mix and match but usually 2 out of three)
The second reason is they wish they could go to Mexico but the spouse will not agree or (3) they are to scared of the shadows at night and sleep with a nightlight. To compinsate for these weaknesses they try and justify their personal problems by coming up with excuses and demands.
I had thought that the moderators were keeping the "I've never been there and won't go" comments off this particular forum. Those of us traveling here don't need anything but real "heads up" info that may affect where we are heading or where we are. If you haven't been here and also haven't been to Alaska, warn the people there about grizzly bears or something else you deem "useful". I see that Detroit and New Orleans are among the 10 most dangerous cities in the world, yet I don't hear travel warnings for them. I suppose if your little town is all in the meth business and nobody walks the sidewalks at night, then this is normal. Having the news tell you that Mexico is dangerous doesn't mean it's more dangerous than your own little dangerous town. Those of us traveling here know as well as we can where our comfort zone is and we're comfortable in it. If you'd rather hide under the bed, don't take your computer there with you, please ! RYV

I personally believe travel warnings are issued to reduce liability by the country in question. Imagine if a tourist were killed outside said country and lawsuits were filed?
I checked the travel warning website and a few choice countries. Canada and France, according to the government can be risky

This particular thread had nothig to do with travel to Mexico instead it was meant to "rag" on anyone who disagreed with travel to Mexico. Ive been to Mexico more times that I can remember(by car and cruise ship), Im not hiding under my bed with a nite light on, Im not a racist and I could care less about you or anyone else going to Mexico! I do take exception that those of us who use our own common sense to make an informed decision, are somehow less educated than those who choose to go South! I cant speak for anyone but myself here so Ill put it in my own words....when I believe Mexico has more beauty, more diversity, less crime, less corruption than all those places here in the Good old USA, I may take my RV down there....until then, Mexico has "nada" for me! Judging from the illegal immigartion at our border, Im guessing its has "nada" for many who live their!
"we like to keep informed" and if a bunch of dribble comes with it...so be it. When it comes down to it, traveling in Mexico with an RV gives pause more than it ever would NOB. Yes there are places that give pause up here as well but we have an infrastructure we are used to and that helps give confidence. Of course there are exceptions, but having been to the Canadian Consulate (in Maz) for advice, been in a traffic accident and visited the jail and commandants associated with traffic accidents, bailed a national out, witnessed brutal executions, joined in local celebrations and invited to visit nationals in their homes and become a little part of the community.....I will say this; the views and all views and opinions expressed in this forum on RVing in Mexico are echoed by those that I have met in my travels there. Therefore I find this forum a good and true expression of thoughts for RVing in Mexico.
Thank goodness the users of this forum post as much info on any topic.
What a horrible day it would be if someone was in trouble, tried to announce a warning, or wished to announce how cold the beer was....but did not for fear of being made a fool of or have his/her post deleted.
Not too far into Mexico, but lots of our brethren from Canada and points north in the US come down to the border and have to wonder if they should go across to any of the border towns in Mexico. Here's a link to a story about Nuevo Progreso in Tamalipus.
