We did a 5000+ trip last spring/summer, we had a blast and yes it was a little more expensive than we have anticipated but we are back saving our duckies and going again this year. We did have to curtail slightly due to minor medical issue but we WILL go again and go out for a couple months if the weather permits! (Rain in the NW)
In an election year the incumbent will do his level best to put his best foot forward to be re-elected( this is NOT an endorsement) but gas prices being high will NOT put him in the best light. So I bet they drop!

Not this time, not with this guy. His record proves it. Neither for, or against. Just fact.
Actually, we are pretty much run by the oil companies and they don't like the current guy and will make sure gas is high and the economy is poor in November.

Three or so years ago gas was near $4 and diesel was about $5. We had a diesel truck at the time and we went travelling anyway. We never paid $5 but we did pay over $4.90. We'll keep going. If we don't spend it on gas, the kids will get it eventually. They can and are earning their own money.

Oil $103.78 at closing today, hang on gang its going to $4.50 a gal. And thats if Israel don't hit Iran, or Iran hit Israel... America is anti-Oil. Again Big Oil don't set the price!!! Oil is a commodity thats traded on the world market. Gas use is down. You think the last $4.00 plus a gal caused a problem.. Just wait and see what a recessions that coming. We are still in a recession this will be a double down recession. You know the works "Double Down" I'm sure you have heard those words... Happy Trails...

Gee. since it's going to be such a "bad year for traveling" I guess we will have the pick of the campsites all year long when we travel!! Expecting to do the same as last year, probably close to 90 days on the road and 10K miles. to many places left to see on our bucket list. Guess that's what keeps us young and healthy in our retirement.

Do not worry. In no time at all we will all be using 'Green' renewable energy that costs nothing to produce or transport.

I remember when gasoline first hit 50 cents per gallon. I was outraged! I said that I will never pay 50 cents per gallon for gasoline. Now I just accept the inevitable and don't sweat it. Won't change my plans any.

It will not stop us from using the RV. In the long run it will be cheaper than hotel & eating out. Our last trip we stayed in a hotel for 116$ one night, 45$ for food & fuel cost for gasoline was 120$. If we would have taken the camper on the same trip 600 miles round trip we would have stayed longer & diesel would have been with the same as filling up with gasoline. Let me put it this way "I missed my bed, eating in the camper and leaving the dogs.

It is also possible to reduce frequency or distance of travel and still have great RVing experiences.
