Spent one winter in west central AZ and between monsoon rains, extreme winds and freezing weather, never again. I'll take the south Texas weather any winter, over west central AZ. We have had maybe 10 days of inclement weather here, since we got here the 1st of Oct.

Well even though we have enjoyed the weather in Florida this year, we miss all the fun activities at low cost in the RGV. In Florida everything is expensive.
There is no going to other parks to enjoy the bands and entertainment, no DonWes,
no trips to Progreso for good, cheap Mexican food, music and margarittas or hair cuts! Also miss all the appreciation days that the various towns offer.

We have spent 3 winters in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, 2 winters in Phoenix, and this winter on the Gulf Coast of Alabama. This year has brought lots of rain and wind. We love Arizona and have decided that's where we will go from now on. To each his/her own. It would be kinda crowded if we all liked the same place!

Ever think of Yuma?
Mentioning "monsoon' type rain had me confused. Wind sometimes but not THAT much precip.
We prefer the warmer/hot weather without the humidity. Originally from Green Bay and do not miss the higher humiditys one bit.
Enjoy the RGV which we may visit sometime.

Enjoy the RGV which we may visit sometime. Yes, we are giving serious thought to Yuma in a couple years. Have a chance to rent a lot in the foothills and that is what we like. We are avid off road enthusiast, so the foothills location is right down our line.
The one winter we were there, the winds were 80+mph more than once, we had at least a ½ dozen heavy rain storms that caused serious flooding and there were many nights with freezing temps. The locals say it was an unusual winter, but I am not going to see if their correct, by trying another winter there. For weather like that. we would stay home...

Foothills should be perfect for what you want to do.
When the wife retires later this year Yuma area we will visit for future winter staying. Of course we are open to other places and will be fun checking out more.
Excited? You bet!!
