I'd like to listen to streaming radio, podcasts and such via my android phone while working around the property. I'm wondering if they make ear buds or a headset that allow both listening to podcasts and taking an occasional phone call? I'd like something that covers both ears but still allows wearing a ball cap.

I don't need to make/take many phone calls but it would be nice to not have to remove the buds and use the phone for the call. Do they have buds that include some sort of microphone for phone calls?

Also, what about bluetooth vs wired? Is bluetooth reliable enough these days or should one go with wired?

Also, I will need the text received notification to be played through the buds.

Thanks

Just got Htc android phone, it came with htc earphones. They take calls automaticlly, you can stop music, adjust volume,or change mp3, plus you get stereo, with wired earphones.

My iPod came with a pair. You can buy them on Ebay for a few dollars. Bluetooth is ok but you have to stay on top of keeping them charged or they will go dead on you at the wrong time. You can get over the ears or ear buds with mic.

Many brands make universal earbuds with phone switch. Skullcandy, Sony, beats by dr. Dre, Bose, etc. price is anywhere from $20 - $$200 depending on the sound quality. I'm personally a fan of skullcandy. Good sound. Mid-price.

The Goodwill store in my Neighborhood gets open package returns from both Wal*Mart and Targets. I just bought a new set of Skull Candies for $3.99. on 1/2 price day. Great sound.

got these and they are great, good sound, no wires to get in the way when working,if a phone call comes in just push button and answer, message alert plays through headphones if a message is recieved and they last a long time on one charge and much more comfortable to wear then having buds stuck in my ear,I have used them with a moto atrix and now a samsung GS2 skyrocket and they have been flawless.

I have a set of Bose earbuds that work really well.
The set I have is a one button answer/end call however the set I have shown has three buttons to control volume, answer/end and start iPod/iPhone. If you notice in the picture, there are half moon shaped rubber pieces that fit snug in your ear. Your headphones will come with three sizes so you pick the size that best fits your ear and they will not come out so they are great for jogging and other activities. The thing I like about Bose and this is something they don't advertize well is if your earbuds break, bring them back and you get credit towards a new pair. I paid $119 for mine and I think I can replace them for $50. I"ve already done this with the noice cancelling headphones. Mine get a lot of abuse flying four times a month and I don't keep them in the case, anyways they gave me a $150 or $200 credit towards a new pair.

Thanks for the replies, sounds like there is a few options. I'll start looking through them.

I take it the microphone is in the answer/call switch? Also, do you hear the text received tone through them?

I have a Droid X and Razr and use JLab Audio jbuds j5m metal ear buds with microphone. They work with htc, iphone and blackberry as well as Droid.

I really like them. I got them at Amazon for $35.

I tried the ear buds with mic for an iphone and they don't work with the Droid.

I keep the JLab ear buds in my car to use while driving (if important). I don't like those wireless bluetooth ear plugs. You have to remember to charge the bluetooth plugs.
