I am planning to replace my current 5’vr in the next 18-24 months and will use the time to do as much research as possible to eventually get exactly what I want. The search has started with a couple of models that make a good baseline unit for my needs. The unit will not be for ‘full time’ living but will be used 6-10 times per year for week long trips. The two models are: Forest River Wildcat Sterling Edition 32RL and a Heartland Sundance 3200RE. For those that have experience with these two manufacturers; will they be similar in quality & workmanship or is there one that stands out better than the other?

We own a Cedar Creek Daydreamer and couldn't he happier with both rig and builder! The quality of my rig shows as well today as when she was built which to me equates into longevity which to me means dollars saved, now mind you the Daydreamer was CC's high-end model at the time but the basics are the same through out their other models with quality manufacturing and attention to detail, being a master carpenter by trade the workmanship and fit and finish of the cabinetry and trim is what really got me from the start but there is obvious thought put into the layout and storage. Now i'm not saying that Cedar Creek is perfection on wheels,we had a few issues but the one big advantage that Forest River has over the competition is their unparalleled customer service during and after the sale! I often say "Just look for the fiver' owner with the big grin on his face and he'll have a Cedar Creek behind him",if i had to buy another fiver i wouldn't think twice,it would be a Cedar Creek!

We don't have a Sundance but before deciding on the Big Country in the signature, we looked at both Wildcat and Sundance as well as many other brands. For our needs and demands, the comparable Heartland products always had the edge over the various competitors in overall eye appeal, fit & finish, and what we saw as quality.

We have been very happy with both the product and the company. One only needs to visit the Heartland Owners Forum to see the many accolades to outstanding Customer Service. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions/concerns.

Best Wishes in your Quest!

Heartland....Thor lets them operate as a separate company. Since selling to Birkshire Hathaway (Warren Buffett) in 2007 Forest River customer support has gone into the toilet....friends of mine have had to fight tooth and nail in last 2 years to get them to do legit warranty repairs.

We don't own a Sundance either but have had two Bighorns and now a Landmark and have had outstanding customer support from Heartland and our dealers. Well, two out of three dealers. The first one hassled not only us but several other customers and are no longer selling Heartland.

We have a 2010 Heartland Cyclone 3010 model trailer and a very happy with it. We took it to Alaska last summer and it did very well. We ordered wholesale from http://www.rvcapitalwholesalers.com/ . This was the easiest and cheapest way to purchase the trailer. Far less money than show price or the dealer would come close too. You get exactly what you want and not what the dealer has on the lot. Yes, my local dealer services my trailer without issue. good luck with your search.

Have been happy with crossroads but none of our local dealers sell them. Want to by from a local dealer for after sales support. The next time I am over in Portland I do plan to take a look at them.

We are on our second Sundance. This one is the 2012 3200RE. I bought it from Rv capitol also. And I ordered it the exact way I wanted it, with almost all options plus a few. PM me if you have any questions. I do not have a local dealer nearby. But we do have an independent rv repairshop that takes care of a large 1000 space rv park during the summer. They do warranty work on all brands and models.
The Sundane is a good quality unit
