My husband and thinking about signing up for the fall balloon fiesta. the price is $1900 and want to know if this is a good price and worth going on the tour. We have never toured with Good Sam Club. Has anyone participated in one of these?
We would go on our own but make your reservations ASAP - particularly if you want VIP parking(and I would want VIP) - much better views, closer. We were there this year.
Yes you can do it on your own, much less money. There will always be space for dry camping near the Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. There is room for thousands of RV's just in the one area that was the old field, about 1/2 mile X 1000 feet.
I have been to Albuquerque hot air balloon fiesta many times. It is about a 1/2 mile from the old field to the new one. You can get reservations for the VIP area, at $100 a night they provide 30 amp electric hookup and city water, as well as dump service via a honey wagon. IT is on a hill overlooking the balloon fiesta grounds.
There is also a RV area that is within easy walking distance to the south gate, say about 100 -- 300' depending on if you are lucky enough to get the front row or not.
I would rather camp at $25 a night and ride a bike back and forth. Many times the balloons will go south, and fly right over the old field, and you can just look outside the RV and see the balloons fly by.
