Injectors were an issue for the LB7 - FACT.
Overheating was an issue for the LLY (excluding the 06 LLY) - FACT (JUST ASK THESE GUYS).

I'm very familiar with the Duramax LB7 and the LLY. A good friend has an LB7 (and is on his second set of injectors), and my Dad has an LLY (05) which has a cooling fan that runs constantly in the summer, towing or not.

The 06+ LBZ was and is a pretty solid rig. The Allison was and is a pretty good transmission as long as no power is added (aftermarket) to the Duramax. It's pretty easy to limp an Allison when power is added. Same as it's pretty easy to ruin a 48RE with aftermarket power.

Oh, and to the kid from Wisconsin - Gravolnutz was the catalyst to the dick swinging.

This thread was and is about a Hypertech tuned Cummins. How about we return to that topic OK?

First off there isn't a tranny that is worth a******once you start adding power. IMO none of them are worth a******stock anyways, unless you have had a built tranny you have no idea how they are actually suppose to shift.

And lets see you Dads cooling fans kicks on all the time. SO WHAT THAT IS WHAT IT IS SUPPOSE TO DO. Do you really want to get into the all the problems the cummins has had? We can start with the #53 block if you would like.

How long ago was that again? 12 years or so? Black eye, you bet.
Many never did fail and are still running around my area.
I don't know of many post 2001 Cummins with a history record of "common well known problem" label.

Guys I hate to break it to you but I already bought the truck and I'm sticking with it ......

I considered all of the******that has been brought up in this thread long before I ever bought this Cummins. Heck, I have been looking at trucks for about 11 yrs now and have just gotten myself to the point that I had enough saved up for this one. The mechanic I know told me about every problem he could think of for every generation of Dodge truck and played an integral part in my truck selection.

One of the main reasons I bought the Cummins was due to the fact I know ALOT of people around here with them (shoot my best friend has three) and they all swear by the Cummins. Heck my friend with three of them has 275,000 on an original 48re tranny outfitted with the valve body upgrade I mentioned, solenoid, and torque converter lock up and it is still going strong even after having been used as a work truck pulling loads every day.

I think all of the brands have some strengths and weaknesses ( my one friend is on his 3'rd tranny in a 6.0L Ford) however the fact that I have an awesome mechanic that won't rape me on prices played a HUGE role in my brand selection as well as the price that I was able to get this truck for.

I think the problem here is that it's winter and instead of being out camping we are having a pissing match online LOL

certified106, you need to change your sig. I'm done swinging.

You'll be very happy with that combo. I know I have been. Awesome power, great mpg, and rock solid dependability.

You beefed up a diesel TRANNY for a 19' TT LOL

no they beefed up a minivan transmission that was put behind a cummins for towing.

Take one out, rip it apart and compare it to the others. There is nothing to those trannies. One guy can throw them around all day without the torque converter in them.

Their reputation is being weak. While they have gotten them to the point where they can at least hold up in a stock truck, a modded truck will still tear one apart. They continue to be the weakest in the industry.

???? nice try on trying to stir the pot. obviously you`ve never had one apart! I have, when I was at Chrysler training school. I have never really had one apart in the field, maybe a handful. now a 604 minivan trans that`s a different story. but they are 2 completely different transmissions.

The CR cummins is known for lift pumps, nothing a airdog can't fix but it still problems. I like all 3 trucks my point is every motor has problems.
