This is the way to do it!

Same here.
I leave my SuperGlide hitch attached to the pin box. I use a turn buckle at the rear of the hitch to level it while raising it from the truck bed.

Reese 16k round tube slider.... I lift it out of the rails and slide to the back of the truck and then give it the ole' heave ho to a furniture dolly on the ground. After reading here, I'm going to harbor freight to get the hoist to attach to the garage door header.

I have a 2000lb crane from Harbor Freight. Put an extension bar on it. To be able to reach in the bed while tail gate is on. I can pick up Pull-rite Superglide by myself! I am 5 foot female. Install and take out hitch every spring and fall. Would post pics. Not sure how to do it.

I use an engine hoist too, with wheels on it. I don't need a dolly, just extend the lifting bar out, pin it, and move the hoist in behind the tailgate. Im sorry, but I don't have any pictures. I use some 3/8" kevlar line with nylon cover wrapped around the hitch. I can easily move it around so that it lifts level. Eventually I'll get around to a premade cable or chain. I can put it in the corner of the garage very easily.
Good luck.

I`ve got a cherry picker and could use that, but I use my loader tractor with pallet forks. I pop the hitch out of the rails with a bar, and then lift it out with the forks, set it on a small pallet I attached wheels to, and wheel it out of the way. My hitch is a Reese 16K Slider.

(I access the hook through the gap created between the bottom edge of the door and the header when the door is open.) I attach a chain to the two eye bolts that I permanently attached to the hitch via pre-drilled holes. I then raise the hitch off the rails, move the truck out of the way, and lower the hitch onto a furniture mover.
Ditto here, works like a charm, for my 16k (non-sliding) Reese. And a comealong is a nice tool to have around the house for other chores, such as stump pulling.
I connect the hook of the comealong to a large HD eyelet bolt, nut and washered to a pipe flange that fits in the pin latch.
