We want to head east and avoid Tucson via I-10 this year. Can anyone render an opinion on the questioned route driving with a diesel pusher and toad? Are there stretches of hard climbs? Stretches with no rear traffic relief pull-offs?

We've done it 3-4 times with our gasser and never had a problem. There's a couple of grades on the way to Globe from Phoenix but nothing really hard. On 70 stop at the Apache Gold Casino and get a good breakfast. They also have an RV park.

We did that with ours (65' with toad)without any problems at all...simply take your time as you know you're not on the interstate. Beautiful drive and yes, stop at Apache Gold. Their RV park is nice...we spent a week there over Mother's Day....Dennis

Went west last year on 70 out of Lordsburg, NM to Mesa, AZ and there was snow on the ground. 4th of January.

It is a very nice drive with good road. You should have no trouble at all. Enjoy the drive.

Did that route in reverse in Dec 2006. Neat I was pulling a 14' Uhaul trailer with my stepson's household goods. (Finished his PHD at ASU, years before but left everything till he found
"real" job) He was following us with my 1999 Jeep Cherokee (my toad) pulling another tandem axle trailer. We had no other problem than a little snow worried us.

We ran that route on the way to Quartzsite in January. Most part good road with little traffic. I will do it again.
