Years ago when I had a Savoy SL made by the old Monaco Co. I was told that my roof leaked because I failed to perform the "roof maintenance"/inspection portion which I had. Turned out the roof wasn't fastened to the walls properly by the factory. Ended up being a "buy back". Leaked so bad, it'd take three bildge pumps to keep it dry. Could see wide open cracks that were 1/4" wide in three 10 foot sections up there. Junk. JMHO

I'm in the market for a new fiver within the next few months. This posting has reduced my list by one manufacturer; I will NOT consider any fiver made by Jayco! Their response to your roof situation is unacceptable!!!

Mike;
While I'm really unhappy with Jayco's position regarding my roof, we really do like the trailer. I guess what people should take away from this is inspect, inspect, inspect!!! And if you see something you don't like or something you can't live with, then move on and find another unit. If you spend enough time on the various forums out on the internet you'll find there are a lot of brands with problems from the entry level to the high end. Will I buy another Jayco? At this point in time I really can't answer that, check back with me in a year.

Good response Steve.
Although isolated, from what I have read in this and other Forums, it is still a concern but not a reason to not by from any manufacturer...including Jayco.
Best of luck getting your issue resolved to your satisfaction.

Steve, My failing is that I don't have any patience with shoddy workmanship and/or poor customer service. I guess I'd better get over it if I'm going live thru another RV purchase
I do hope you have many good camping seasons with your new trailer. Just a suggestion: if you're through going back and forth with Jayco over the matter, you might cover that protruding screw or nail bump with an Eternabond patch or at least carry one along with you. They are available in a six-inch square size and REALLY stick well.

I carry a roll of Eternabond with us all the time, used it on our last trailer on the seams and plan to use it in this trailer as well.
I have little patience as well for lousy customer service and shoddy work, but at this point I'm just going to take a step back and try to enjoy the trailer. I'm not going to give up all together, just take a breather for a bit, but I will keep a close eye on the roof. They win round one.

I would get a copy of the roof material manufacturer's installation instructions. Surely, it will say remove all debris and knock off any high spots before install.
Maybe they don't want to intercede on your behalf, but they should be willing to provide installation instructions to anybody. Maybe they are available on line.
Good luck.

I realize this is Alpha Systems that supplied the roofing material but Dicor also makes the majority of the roofing systems. In their instructions to the RV manufacturer it states to apply the substrate and use fastners that sit flush or slightly lower to the substrate. It also says at side wall transitions, seams, and over the screws that it is advised you apply felt seam tape.
