Might be a find....

Thanks Mike,
Looks neat, DW thinks 2001 is a bit old since we are in a 2004. we will be in the neighborhood next week so I will consider taking a look. Foretravels are really well built.

Dang, exchanged email and it is sold. Has been for a month.

Another Question: Can any one tell me the difference between Winnebago Journey 36M and Itasca Meridian 36M. Floor plans appear identical and specs do to. All I can find is $700 more for eht Itasca nameplate.

Concur with Foretravel, consider the Wanderlodge, and yes Country Coaches have 32-38' coaches too. Some nice two slide 36' Intrigues were made.

You might also check with Newell, though I admit I don't recall if they go that small.

I had very good luck, and was in no rush, sending my 'Short List' of rigs and models we were considering, to two salesmen. They quite often know of rigs coming in on consignment, or trade in, that never make it to the lot. Steve Wilson at Holland Motors in San Diego (now San Marcos), found our rig for us. I also had made contact with Steve (last name escapes me) at California Coaches. Both of these two came recommended by many people, some from this board. They both earned their reputation and referred business, by being stand up people. Yep, they make their money, but finding the 'right rig' is sometimes worth paying a bit more...

I like the idea of the Foretravel, with a Big Block and Retarder, I think with the miles you put on a rig, you'd be pleased with that combo. You could buy in the $150-175K range, then have the factory change over anything to what you two want - probably have some good coin left at the end.

That is a fun budget to work with, have a blast!!!

Smitty,

Thank you for the idea. I was thinking of calling the salesman I bought my two coached from and learned that he is in hospice and that is never good. (I went into a Camping World in New Braunfels and found a saleslady who recognized my phone number as a Rochester number and asked some questions which lead to her knowing I knew Gary and she had worked with him on many shows - small world) Long story, I will call another person in that shop who I know and who was recommended to do some digging.

I have dreamed of a Foretravel ever since we took the factory tour several years ago. We are currently in Livingston TX and will drive up to Nacadoches in a couple of days to see what is lying around.

Visited PPL in New Braunfels and did not see much to get excited about (cold and rain were not a great help).

I would check out the new 2012 Discovery 36 diesel pusher with 4 slides and a cummins 380, Loaded to the gills for under 200m discounted price. I almost bought one last year.
Check out FleetwoodRV.com.

Foretravel is a good choice. No skimping on the construction/design and there is both a factory service center AND the foreforums.com with a very active group of owners who are willing and able to provide little things like wiring diagrams for 20-year-old coaches and knowledgeable - specific - advice on repair, service, driving, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've just looked at the floor plan and it has some promise. Will find one to see "in person" as we roll.

Other than Foretravel, which company would be rated the highest in quality for a 36 foot DP?

FWIW it was a retired Foretravel rep who told us to buy a Tiffin. Said we could not beat the quality/features for the $ spent.
