Nemo,
Other than the GT, what were the brands of coachs you purchased using your "forumla". I would hope that Tiffin may fall under the same. And that $15 is most likely the best money you ever spent.

Got a price today on a 2012 Tiffin Allegro 35QBA fully loaded for $112,000. To me this sounds like a pretty good deal. What do you all think??????

Doesnt sound too bad, but it does kind of prove the point I made earlier - A fully loaded Georgetown can be had for much, MUCH less than that. I know, because I just bought one (fully loaded Georgetown) 2 weeks ago, and paid well over $20k less than that.

No doubt the Allegro has some nice features the Georgetown doesn't, but you have to ask yourself, if the Allegro is worth 20-30k more to you. We did not see where the Allegro was worth that much more, but obviously thats just MHO, and you may not feel the same way.

No Tiffin, a Wildcat by Forest River, an Open Road (no longer in existance), a Paradise Point by Crossroads, a Big Horn by Heartland and a Georgetown and I backed out of a deal on a Cedar Creek also by Forest River. All were fifthwheels except the Georgetown. I also made a deal with Lazy Days in Florida and RV Direct on the Georgetown which I didn't take because they were farther away from where I was at the time. By the way, RV Direct gave me that deal right off the bat, with no negotiations. All of these deals were within the formulas perimiters. But, I'm pretty sure Tiffin is like all the rest. I hope so, if I go to a diesel pusher a Tiffin Phaeton is on my short list. Of course it'll have to be one about 5 years old, so the formula is out the door.

I don't think that formula works on Tiffins plus I think 5th wheels and Class A's have different pricing guidelines.

I don't know why everyone is so skeptical about this. I'm not positivley sure Tiffins have the same pricing structure as the rest of the industry, but I don't know why they wouldn't. Now as far as motorhomes being different than fifth wheels. My Georgetown has an msrp of $131000 there was a discount of $600 on the full body paint so that brought it to $130,400. There was at that time $900 shipping from Elkhart, IN to Bettendorf, so using the formula $130,400-$900= 129500/1.4=92,500+900=93400+2000= $95400. I had a $1500 Winegard Traveler Dish installed on the motorhome, so I paid $96500 for my 2011 Georgetown 378TS. The dealer had a different(higher) msrp on the georgetown, so I called him on it. I told him he made up his own, which he never confirmed or denied, but wanted to know where I got my msrp. It came from RV Direct and when you ask to make a deal with them on line the msrp with the dealer cost on the base price and options is given to you on line. I'm sure the dealer wanted to turn RV Direct in to Forest River for giving out that information. Like I said before what does it hurt to try, even with Tiffin. If the Tiffin dealer won't make a deal at that formula price, if it were me, I'd buy a Georgetown. Because they will and there sure isn't $16,600 difference in them. So, my opinion is $112,000 is not a good price on a Tiffin with an msrp of $132000. Especially since you can get a Georgetown that is 3 ft. longer for that same msrp.

I got a price of $105,818 form our local dealer on a 2012 Georgetown 352qs which is the same floor plan as the Tiffin Allegro 35qba. Rv Direct had a price of $98,412 for the same unit which is great if I didn't have a trade in. They will only give me $22,500 for mine where the local guys are between $35,000 and $40,000 for mine. The tiffin dealer was the one at $40,000 so if I can get a Tiffin for between $110,000 and $112,000 I think the numbers look pretty good.

Sometimes you have to wonder if the differences matter all that much. I realize that it is up to the individual end users of the various rigs on the market, but in my short 5 year MH experience and in my humble opinion the differences are not as great as initially marketed to be. Case in point, I am in the process of upgrading from my 2000 gas Allegro to something newer in the 2006-2009 area. I recently was comparing a 2007 Itasca Sunrise to a 2007 Georgie Boy Landau. On the surface most would agree that the Itasca is a superior rig to the GB. But when we (dear wife) really started to compare, the GB was alot closer to the Itasca in regards to cabinet quality, fit and finish and quality of materials. No we did not go as far as compare converter mfgs., but did look at names of jacks, ac/heat units, fridge, stove, micro. I would guess there can be alot said for guality of workmanship in the areas you don't see, how the internal construction of the rig takes place during the manufacturing process that companies such as Itasca, Allegro etc. will have an advantage over others. But, this comparison we were making was compounded by the fact that the Itasca was $20,000 more and having 3x the mileage! We made an offer on the GB, but the dealer it was at played low ball games that we walked out. Our quest continues.
Based on this opinion, we have expanded the number of manufacturers we are willing to look at, with the most recent going to see unit is a Damon Challenger 348, 2008 with 3900 miles on it and the dealer asking $74,900.

Take the RV Direct deal without the trade and ask the Georgetown dealer to match the price on the 352qs. Then try and work with him from there. That's what I did with Lazy Days and my local dealer. I got the same for my fifthwheel that the dealer offered me before I showed him the RV Direct price. But, I had a Diesel pickup to trade too and RV Direct would not take that. Bot Lazy Days and my local dealer would take both. My local dealer gave me $8000 more than RV Direct.

To OP,

I've had my Tiffin 35QBA for 7 months now. I have fixed several minor items by myself (drawer slides-2, blind roller-1, tighten screws-too many) and have not had to return to the dealer once... and I don't intent to. I did a detailed PDI and made the dealer fix a few things before I took delivery.

I did call Tiffin three times with issues and all three times they shipped the parts I needed right away with no hesitation. They supplied the parts and I fixed the problem. Actually its the way I like it!

DW and I liked the look and finish of the Tiffin the best and I didn't buy the it because I think they are built the best, (they are all built on assembly lines by people being pushed to make it quicker, all of em!) however, for about four years before we bought ours, after reading about all the different manufacturers, IMHO, I believe Tiffin supports their products as well or better than the others. (like I said, just my opinion based on everything we read)

I do not intend to ever drive to Red Bay,AL and will avoid it if possible, but's it's nice knowing I can if need be.

Good luck with you decision and enjoy the process!!
