I can't buy CW accessories because of the high shipping costs to Canada. I've purchased from JC Whitney and the shipping costs are a fraction of the costs compared to CW.

If they are able to provide reasonable rates I don't understand why CW can't do the same.

I would appear that for a lot of on-line sellers, shipping revenue has become a profit centre. Some are quite reasonable to Canada while others are just plain rediculous!. Most of them will not permit USPS which would likely be the cheapest for smaller parcels. Probably don't want to deliver to the post office however, the USPS has been advertising a pick up service. Back to profit centre!

For those of us close to the border, we can have the items shipped to a UPS store at reasonable rates. Never have UPS shipped to Canada as the cost is prohibitive.

Hi Marcus,

Sorry, it looks like I will now eat my words.

Last May I ordered Airlift air springs from JC Whitney and received them at my door for less than $300. Shipping was less than $50.

I just priced the same springs at JC Whitney and they are now a total of $500. Total shipping is $78 plus duty/tax/processing of $118. They now use a 3rd party, Bongo International, for international shipping. They didn't last year!!!!

It appears they are now charging basically the same price as CW. Priced the same springs at CW and the total is $526 with shipping and duty etc.

Wonder why JC Whitney has changed their international shipping methods. It appears now I won't be ordering from either. It's just too cost prohibitive to order from CW (or JC Whitney). Guess I'll have to wait until I'm in New Hampshire to use my CW gift card I received for Christmas.

My apologies!

UPS typically charges a $20 brokerage fee in addition to the shipping on items under $100 cost. Amazon.ccannas reasonable charges; maybe they send truckloads to Canada, then mail them here. One wonders how a $5 eBay item can be sent from China with no shipping charge.

I recently tried to purchase a Voyager wireless backup camera system from CW. Initial price very competitive, but on check out, $55 to ship via UPS with another $80 due upon receipt for brokerage fees! Called CW and they advised to use the "International" checkout - did that and a whopping $215.00 in shipping costs!! Absoutley ridiculous!! I have purchased stereo, video, camera and other equipment from the US, where the shipper uses USPS or FedEx, and no where near the outrageous fees trying to buy from CW - it's time CW offered some alternatives because it is costing them business and I don't know of any company these days that can afford to turn business away!!

It's the third party brokerage fees that ramp up the shipping to ridiculous.
We find that good old USPS gives us the cheapest rate. A couple of days extra (depending on the third party the other use). Is worth the stack of coinage other get for "shipping".

I priced out a small folding table at CW. On sale for $15 for something I could have bought at Canadian Tire for $10. Shipping and fees was $77. Will have to wait until we visit the USA in June to check for any bargains.

Luckily, I'm close enough to Ogdensburg, NY to get stuff shipped there and go pick it up the weekend after it arrives. I, too, have been burned by brokerage fees too many times.
