We have a kayak on our toad (Acura MDX)and traveled about 1500 miles last summer with no issues.
There's no place like home; that's why we take ours with us

We also plan to put two bicycles on the rear hitch of the toad.

I've towed kayaks on a roof rack on a Jeep Wrangler previously and an Avalanche presently for a total on about 50K miles without any issue. With the aid of a rearview camera I am convinced there is less wind resistance towing due to the drafting effect than driving the toad. As long as you have a good rack strapped sideways and secure it front and back to stabilize it against cross winds you will have no problem.

WE like many of you put our kayaks on the roof of our toad..(Land Rover discovery) I have been doing it for 5 years now and only one time did I have a problem. They did not come off but they do move around if you do not secure them in a big way. Just watch your back up camera and you will see. I did not have the straps tight enough.
I have always put ties on front and back (many states it is a law to secure front and back of your kayaks anytime. I also use the straps that came with the roof mount and run those (2 on each kayak) around the roof rack.

We put our two kayaks on the roof of our Jeep Liberty and have had no problems. We use Thule racks with the slide on type kayak brackets. I also doubt that there is much of a "tornado wind" there as the toad is close to the coach. We have not noticed any mileage different with or without the toad or the kayaks.
When are kayaks are on the Toad we strap them down to the roof rack and on the front and rear to the car. I installed a trailer hitch on the rear where I hook into the chain loops and on the front I installed nylon looped straps screwed through the body under the hood. Then I bring them out from under the hood where I tie them to the kayaks.

I've towed a Jeep Cherokee with a double kayak, and with two single kayaks for over 75,000 miles with no issues. I have Yakima racks with "U" shaped saddles and use the standard straps. I have been in some pretty strong sidewinds - over 30mph - and the kayaks have never moved.
Don't know where the tornado like winds come from. Someone's overactive imagination IMO.

Evening,
We have two 12 foot Wilderness System recreational kayaks that are mounted to the top of a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I drilled holes through the roof of the Jeep hardtop and installed the tracks made by Yakima that hold my towers and then kayak carriers mounted to the tower crossbars. All Yakima products.
We tow the Jeep four down behind our 38 ft diesel pusher. Have towed it from Indiana to Ocala FL, IN to Destin FL and IN to Moab UT last year without any issue. I can see the kayaks in the rear camera and haven't noticed any problems. I would suggest that you tie down the bow and stern (front and back) with straps also for any long distances.
I can't speak for all other types of motorhomes and the draft or wind conditions that they may create but for us the kayaks seem to riding in the draft of the motorhome. Really haven't noticed any mileage affect when the kayaks are on the jeep either.
Hope this helps you with your decision.

We have at least 30000 miles towing our grand cherokee with two manitou 14's on the jeep roof rack. They ride smoother behind the mh then they do out in the air stream. Don't hesitate to strap the kayaks on and go.

We tow our Wrangler with a roof rack & kayak racks...carry 2 kayaks, strapped & tied front & back...also a bike rack in the receiver with 2 bikes....no issues...I think the concern may be the factory roof racks, not the kayak racks..many factory racks are rated for less than 75 lbs..........
