About this time last year when we were shopping for a new FW we went to CW in New Braunfels Tx. After looking at a FW I explained to the salesman that I was not buying that day but would be buying within the next 3 to 4 weeks and I had a TT that I would be trading in and wanted him to give me a estimate on the trade in value (as two other dealerships had done) He informed me that unless I was ready to write a check he could not go to the Sales Manager and ask him that, I told him I could not understand why he couldn't as other dealerships had given me estimates, he told me that the way his manager looked at it is if I wasn't ready to commit they really didn't need my business. I fully understand my not buying at CW would not break them, but if it happened often enough it could, needless to say I spent my $50K elsewhere and within the next two weeks.
Don't get me wrong I am not bashing CW I still do a lot of shopping there, but that store missed out on a sale that day.

The first rule of sales, never underestimate the customer.
That is what they have done, even though you were totally honest with them and your buying decisions.
Customer service will always win out.

I had something similar happen last August with a salesman and ended up not buying until the show a month ago. I ended up buying from the same dealer but didn't work with that salesman. He ultimately said something to me when I took delivery and I explained myself.

Interesting. You just don't purchase from dealers like that. When I was searching for my new 5er last year, I basically purchased it over the internet, and went back and forth with several dealers covering their proposal and my unit for trade. I ended up traveling from PA to MI to get my unit. This way I also saved on delivery.

Maybe Camping World Sales could look at the Carmax model where they give an appraisal that is good for 7 days whether you buy or not.I know it has worked for me,my kids and a friend,it keeps people interested and that may help in sales and the preception that the salesperson and the company really want your business.
Isn't better customer service what this new CEO is looking for?
I think opening up this forum this way is a great step in the right direction.

I ended up buying from the New Braunsfels location over the phone.
They had the model I wanted and it was nearing Dec 31.
I had already checked out the online RV prices and knew what I would pay.
When I made my offer over the phone, the nice sales lady said I would need to deal with the owner/manager.
Their original prices were way too high I must say.
I ended up paying about $3,000 over the online wholesale place and did not have to drive to Florida to pick it up.
I think it did help that I could pick it up on Dec 31.
The guy that finalizes the paperwork with you is a real ***** by the way.

I was looking at buying a Bighorn fifth wheel. The closest dealer to me was the CW FT Myers location. Talked to a salesman about the options that I wanted and asked for the bottom line price using my current trailer as a trade in. The price he quoted to me was very high. He said he could do a lot better and would call me back. Never called back so I bought the trailer from Lazydays for $10,000 cheaper.
