Good Morning Marcus,

Monday I received my RV Plus Card. I activated it on line and then took it to the Flying J in Whiteland Indiana to fill up with diesel. After swiping it twice separate times and waiting an extraordinary long time both transactions cancelled themselves. Thinking it was maybe the pump I moved to the RV Island. Same result. I called the toll free number on the card and was advised to go inside (which I hate -- I like to get my fuel and go not stand behind 3/4 people getting slim jims, cigarettes and lottery tickets). The cashier got the error "transctions exceeded". She called the toll free number, then the manager came over. Finally got it to accept it and was told it was programmed for "Canadian Diesel". I called the customer service line on thew way home. First I was told by the rep who answered that "this is new and they're still learning", I talked with a manager whom until I pointed it out never apologized nor anything else. Oh and by the way, it might be nice to tell folks they won't see the discount until the bill is received. What a sorry state of affairs. Spring Break is fast approaching. Should I have another experience like this this, My RV Plus card will be
returned.

4/3/12 Update: I just took an trip over the weekend from IN to AL, card worked fine at Pilot in KY. At Flying J I had to go inside again....twice ....in the pouring rain rather than stay under the canopy at the RV island at the Birmingham, AL Flying J. Got my discount OK. Why doesn't this card work at Flying J? At least it won't at a Flying J for me!

I totally agree. This is not acceptable. I will have our team follow up this morning and find this out. I wish I could say that I have not heard about this with others but I have heard a few complaints. My guess is that the kinks are getting worked out. I pushed really hard to get this done. please be patient with it.

New systems are going to have some problems which can always be expected. You were able to fuel up and when today has anybody ever apologized for anything over the phone. I see no problem with the discount being listed on the bill as long as the proper discount is received. It would have been nice to know we won't see the discount until the bill comes. More of us may have problems with our cards but it's how you handle them that reflexes on yourself and other future customers.

Certainly not happy to hear this we just got back from a 3000mi trip and our card was waiting for us when we got back, so have not had a chance to use it yet. I have been a Good Sam memeber a couple times and only signed up the 2nd time because of an extended stay at a RV Park. But basically saw no value in it (for me) and tons of junk mail.
Was pretty happy with the addition of the card, Camping World discount and trip planner on their website. Certainly hope this turns around.
While traveling I paid attn. to fuel (diesel) prices comparing theirs to others in the area and they seemed to be about $.06 higher than others in the area, which with the discount would bring them right in line. This is okay with me as I would prefer to use them for the other amenities as long as their gas prices are competative. But if these problems continue I will also not use it

Marcus, Thank you, this could be a valuable Good Sam member benefit.

Past MI Director, from my previous employment in a call center for an International company, the first thing you do after listening to the customer's compalint is to apologize. Customer service should be #1, if you don't take care of your customers - someone else will. And I think anyone might be a bit perturbed if their fuel stop had taken 45 minutes. And since I have not been billed, we still don't know about whether the discount was given.

I got a new card at an Ohio Flying J station on the spot. My former card was outdated and did not work for Pilot (they own Flying J now). The cashier just activated a new card for me in seconds. Went back to the pump and got my 2 cent discount.

What you got at the station is the Pilot/Flying J Advantage Card - not the credit/charge card that is required to get the Good Sam discount at Pilot/Flying J. That you have to apply for like a credit card.

By the way, what you have is the better of the two cards as you can use any payment method - and if you have a regular charge card that gives cash back on gas purchases you get two discounts!

I want to see my discount when I purchase not later in my bill. Safeway can do it on their computerized pump system so I would think they can do it at Flying J and Pilot. I don't want to have to audit every purchase at a later date. I have the card now but haven't used it yet. I think I will wait till the bugs are worked out, I hate having to argue with some minimum wage "customer service" rep for a discount that wasn't on my bill. If they can bill the difference between cash and charge at the pump then they can jolly well figure the RV card discount as well.

I agree with haveing the discount show up. I have never heard of waiting for month end to see a discount.

In the business of compitition, one must be on top of the game, the others should always be trying to catch you. "We give an immediate discount at the pump when you use our card. Come join us!" "Additional $.02 off on Wednesday" "$25 oil changes during the month of April" (beginning of season gets us in to purchase other items for the new season) Competitors coupons doubled on Thursday when put on your RVplus charge card (sorry, not available at pay at pump)

If one is not on top, the message is "Here's what we got if you want it."

Be on top Marcus, be on top!

OOPS...totally misread that. Did not realize the discussion was about a credit card.
