I'm planning to buy my RV at Nexus in Indiana and drive it back home to California. I know I will be paying the State tax their, but will there be any other State taxes for me to pay. Any good advice is appreciated and thanks again for all the help.

Been there done that. Save yourself the headache as some states don't have reciprocity with California and they may hit you with the "Use Tax" when you get to California. We did end up with a Arizona title instead of California and it was legally registered in California. In retrospect, we should have taken possession out of the State of Arizona and paid all the taxes here in California.

Took possession of ours in Iowa. Paid Illinois state tax when I got license plates and title. Previously we have purchased in Missouri with same results. If you are not getting plates and title in state where you purchase, you don't pay tax there but in your home state.

Every state has different rules I heard bad about Indiana and California must check states you live in and where you are buying it.

Picking up our 31' NEXUS on 4/5. We put the state tax into the financing package- Nexus will return the 3% tax to us when we close on 4/5 - we'll bring that check home with us and use it to pay the state tax here in NM.

Don't pay the tax in Indiana. You should be purchasing a temp. travel permit only in Indiana. If you know for sure you are buying a specific TT and if you can get a contract faxed to you with VIN etc. you can even get the temp permit in CA, then go pick up the TT. Some states will give you credit for the temp permit when you pay for the final plates in your home state.

Indiana is not currently collecting sales tax on vehicles sold to be moved immediately out of state. They did collect it at one time, then figured out that it was hurting a major industry in their state.

Make sure the seller knows what you are doing, don't pay them the Indiana sales tax, and get a temporary permit (paper tag). If you pay the tax you may discover that California and Indiana don't have reciprocal sales tax, and you may get no credit toward your California tax bill.
