"Mine is just under $4000 per year with an assessed book value of $180,000. In 15 years before it drops to a reasonable rate I will have paid approximately $60,000 in property tax."

But, isn't that a deductible tax on your Federal return, just like our Real Estate Taxes and a portion of our registration fees?

Yes, it is tax deductible on the Federal Return so I get approximately 25% out of the $4000.00

he can look on the bright side, in 15 years he will "only" have paid $45,000 or so in property tax.

In MA, registration fees for trailers can be by weight, $20 per thousand or if there is a bathroom, you can get camper plates that are $50 regardless of weight. When I bought last year I asked and that is how the RMV explained it.

Excise take is a city/town tax and for some reason my new $25,000 TT was only $87 last year.

Just titled and registered our "new" Hi Lo trailer this morning. It's GVWR is 5500#.

In Virginia, we pay 3% sales and use tax of the purchase amount. There is a $10 titling fee. I bought permanent trailer tags. They cost $100. This is a one time registration fee. In 3 years, I'll be even over buying new tags every year. In year 4, I'm ahead of the game.

And I paid an extra $10 to get personalized plates. OMEYGA. Omega is the last letter of the Greek alphabet. This is the last RV I will ever get .....

...... unless it is not.

Of course, the county will be sending me a bill for personal property taxes.

VA charges me property tax on boats/trailers/etc. but yes, my boat trailer has permanent plates. while my property tax on the boat is fairly reasonable it surely isn't on my house.
